Disclaimer: Q: Do I own Harry Potter? A:No.
The first thing James Potter noticed about Lily Evans was that she smelled like coconuts. Not that her hair was red, a hair color he'd never seen before, or that her eyes were extremely green, or even that her teeth were curiously straight. Coconuts. He had bumped into her and gotten a whiff of her hair, and that's when he made a vague connection between her hair and coconuts.
The next day, he slammed into Lily Evans again on the way to Arithmancy, and they were a tangle of arms and legs. His nose was on her arm, and that's when he realized that her skin smelled like coconuts too. After barely sliding in before the bell, James couldn't concentrate on the class because his mind kept wandering back to coconuts.
Every time Lily Evans rejected him for the next few years, all James had to do was remember coconuts, and he was filled with hope again.
And when they got married, and had a wonderful little boy named Harry, Lily would always ask why James never gave up on her, and James would always say the same thing,
"Your hair smelled like coconuts."
A/N: Gah, there's no excuse for this horribly fluffy piece. But I will tell you where I got the idea. You see, my uncoordinated friend slipped, grabbed on to me, and dragged me down with her. When we got up, she told me my hair smelled like coconuts. Later, I saw a girl with red hair, and then this idea hit me; I'm suing Idea, Inc. tomorrow for possible brain damage.
