Ruthie grows up
Summay: Ruthie is now 16 years old. She is going to skip her junior and
senior year of high school and go to college two years early across the
country in Georgia.
Chapter 1: Moving In day
Ruthie looked out the window in the van. Her parents had driven her and Peter across country to the University of West Georgia. After 5 days of traveling, they had finally got there. They turned into the east entrance of the school and Ruthie saw the Mcdonald's and the bookstore. They turned onto Back Campus Dr. and stopped in front of Gunn Hall. The letter that Ruthie had received said that the Advanced Academy Students were housed here. Peter was going to be in the same dorm of course since he was also an Advanced Academy Student. Ruthie got out of the van with her parents and Peter. They went inside and signed Ruthie and Peter in. Ruthie's dad went with Peter up to his dorm room. Peter had been staying with the Camdens ever since his mom had died the year before. Ruthie and he had both received full scholarships for the Advanced Academy at UWG. Ruthie's RA showed her and her mom to her room. Her RA, a girl named Jenny said that her roommate was already there. Ruthie was frightened. She hadn't shared a room with anybody since Lucy had gotten married. Lucy and Kevin still lived in the garage apartment with their 6 month old daughter Linda.
Ruthie looked around the small room. Her roommate was sitting on the bed she had taken. Annie and Ruthie introduced themselves and the girl said her name was Haley. Haley had a deep southern accent that Ruthie had heard only at the summer camp that she and Peter had attended that summer. Ruthie smiled and the girl asked if they needed any help carry in Ruthie's things. Peter and Eric were already unpacking his things. Ruthie carried her food box while her mom carried her laptop. Ruthie and her mom unpacked all, but the heaviest boxes out of the van. Peter and Eric took care of them. Ruthie and Annie unpacked all her things into her room. Haley was still unpacking her stuff. She told them that her parents had just dropped her off with her belongings since she actually came from Carrolton. All the students in the Academy no matter were they came from had to live on campus. Annie helped Ruthie unpack her things and then they went over to find Eric and Peter who were in Peter's room. Peter introduced them to his roommate Joshua who had been a guy Peter had meet at orientation and became fast friends. They had asked to room together. Peter was setting up his laptop that his mom had given him for his 14th birthday. Peter and Ruthie were still dating which is why the camdens hadn't adopted Peter.
Annie and Eric left them to check into their hotel saying that they would be back to pick them up for dinner. Ruthie talked to Peter and his roommate awhile and than Peter walked her back to her room so he could meet her roommate. Haley was sitting on her bed reading when they came in, but she put the book up. Ruthie introduced Peter to Haley. They sat down on Ruthie's bed. Haley sat up and said, "what's your major Ruthie?"
Ruthie said, "history."
Haley said, "mine is history too."
