Ok guys I was bored and just wrote this little sad Book Thief chapter. I may write more if enough people like it but so far it'll just be this one chapter.
Germany, Himmel Street.
2 days before bombs destroyed Himmel Street.
POV Liesel:
The sky was filled with grey clouds that reflected Liesel Meminger's mood.
She was on her way to meet her best and only friend Rudy Steiner.
They had been friends since she first came to live in Himmel Street, despite her attempts to push him away.
'I wonder why Rudy's been acting differently around me lately, she thought. He hasn't asked for a kiss in a while.'
Despite her saying no to him every time, she missed him saying, in that over-confident voice of his 'How about a kiss Saumensch?' where she would reply, 'Saukerl.'
She decided that in a few days, she would confess her feelings to him, so that no matter what happened, at least there would be no regrets.
Unfortunately, death had other plans.
2 days later.
The bombs fell just before sunrise.
First were Rose and Hans.
Next was Rudy's family.
The book thief had stayed up late in the basement writing a love letter to Rudy.
She couldn't get the courage to confess to Rudy in person so a letter would have to do.
But as she was pulled out of the rubble, death wondered if she would ever get the chance to give the letter to Rudy.
And he mourned for her.
POV Rudy:
He opened his eyes and coughed.
His lungs were filled with dust and his eyes felt like they'd been glued shut.
He blinked a few times and sat up, gazing dazedly at the remains or lack of, of Himmel street.
The place that was once his home, reduced to nothing more than ash and rubble.
He saw the bodies of what once were his mother, sister and brothers.
Went over to them, and kissed them goodbye.
Tears trailing down his cheeks.
He stood up to the sound of soldiers lifting a body out of what used to be Rose and Hans' house.
It was Liesel.
His best friend and the girl he loved.
The soldiers placed her gently on the ground before going to get medical supplies.
It was as if time itself had stopped.
He ran over to her side and took her face in his hands.
Her blue eyes fluttered open, meeting his.
She reached her hand to his and slipped something in between his fingers.
She gave him one last, small smile, before her eyes slid closed for the last time.
A single tear ran down her face onto his hand, mixing with the tears that were rapidly falling down his face.
No, he thought.
My best friend, she can't just leave me all by myself.
He looked down at the paper clutched in his hand.
He couldn't read or write as well as Liesel but he could read what she wrote on the piece of the paper.
And it said, in simple black curvy writing;
I love you too Saukerl.
Ok everyone what did you think? Please R&R or comment/message me. Let me know if you want me to write another chapter.
Thanks Guys! :) xx
