Hermione sat silently, tears dripping freely from her chin. How had it happened? How had her life gotten so messed up? She kept her eyes down, watching Ron's feet as he paced back and forth. She couldn't bring herself to look at him; she didn't deserve it.

He had always strived to be the best husband, the best friend, that he could be. And how had she repaid him? More tears spilled down her face, but she didn't give them sound, she wouldn't; she refused to assault him with the sound of her grief. She had already hurt him badly enough, she could spare him that.

She held her breath when he stopped, afraid that he would finally speak to her. But, he said nothing, only began to pace again and she took in another ragged breath. It was torture sitting there, not defending her actions, not pleading for his forgiveness. But she deserved it; she was a terrible wife.

Again he stopped, his feet turned towards her and he took a half-step in her direction, but paused. She could practically hear him open his mouth and then snap it shut. She watched in horror as his feet turned away and left the room, the sound of the door slamming seconds behind it.

Hermione sobbed, collapsing to the floor in his absence. She cried until she could no longer breath and lay gasping into her hands. Her traitorous hands. The same ones that had traced the frame of another man's body only two months ago. The hands that had led the way for her terrible lips to press against his. Her whore's body to wrap around his, to enfold him deep inside of her, her disgusting arms that clutched his foreign body to hers. She was a terrible, awful person. She was a liar, a deceiver, a slut.

One time, she had told herself. It was only one time. She had done the unforgivable, but it would never happen again, she had reasoned. Ron didn't have to know, it would only hurt him and she didn't want to hurt her beloved husband.

Through blurry tear-filled eyes, she glared at the pink bubbling potion in her bathroom. How was she ever going to raise a baby on her own?

The End. Thanks once again to Clover Bay for beta reading despite my current unhappiness bleeding into my fics.
