The more I watch 'Hey Arnold!' the more I think about Helga and how she
might feel about the way her family treats her. This poem came to mind as I
watched.

Who I Have To Be

Ignored and alone,
That's the way my life works.
Me with my teasing and sarcastic quirks.
I just want some attention.
So I have to be the mean one,
I have to be bad.
I have to push and shove and make everyone sad.
Then I get the attention,
But it's not the kind I want.
So I continue to be hurt,
To be mean and to taunt.
But maybe just maybe,
Someone will be nice, even just for one day.
Then I won't have to suffer,
I won't have to pay.
I may seem like a bully,
But I have feelings too.
So when I yell and holler,
So when I scream and shout,
Please don't take it personal,
That's not what I'm about.
You see my family doesn't care,
They don't notice me.
So this it who I have to be,
I have to be the bully.
