A/N: FredxAngelina from Fred's point of view. Thought it might be fun to try. Let me know what you think please:)
He's staring again, and he's well aware of it.
He's not going to deny it if anybody asks, because that's the kind of person he is. Someone will say, "There he goes again!" and laugh, and they'll look to him for a denial or something, for him to tell them of course he wasn't staring, and he'll just say, "Yeah." and keep staring.
It's always mystified him, how she can't seem to understand how beautiful she is. Not that she's one of those girls who goes around saying how terrible she looks, no. She doesn't do that whether it's fishing for compliments or whether it's sincere. But she doesn't seem to get it. That she's amazing in more than just an obvious way. She thinks she looks pretty average, not bad certainly, and she isn't afraid of that, or unhappy with it. But that's not the point, because there's more to it.
There's something about her that draws his eye. Something beyond thick wavy hair and a huge, inviting smile. That doesn't hurt of course, but something about her makes her different, and he's always trying to figure it out.
She isn't like every other girl. She's different inside, and in his opinion better (of course) but on the outside too. Something about her makes that little difference.
Is it the angle of the nose? It's been broken once (playing Quidditch) and so it's slightly crooked. It's a beautiful imperfection, but that's not it. That's obvious, and it isn't what…draws his eye. It isn't the thing that is beyond the obvious. That's something else.
It isn't the eyes either. They sparkle, and they smile, but that isn't it. That's the first thing people pick up on (that and the hair) and it isn't what distinguishes her from thousands of others.
The color of her skin has nothing to do with it. He loves it, he loves all of her that makes up the unique her, but what is it that is that little extra? Something makes her different, something about her catches his attention every time he comes in a room.
After a while it begins to frustrate him, and after a little while more, it's just plain driving him nutters, because he's a pretty impatient guy by nature and he can't stand this elusive little detail escaping him. Whatever it is.
And then, one day, he finds it.
She's smiling a special smile (come to think of it, in his direction, thought that's, strangely, the last thing on his mind), a secret little smile that is different from her usual one. It turns up more at one corner than the other, and it he's never seen it before. But it's not the smile itself.
There's a little dimple that shows up at one side of her mouth, a tiny indent that winks for an instant before it (and the smile) are gone. And although both smile and dimple last for only a few seconds the image is imprinted in his mind forever. It makes her very uniquely her. That dimple is all Angelina.
He comes to know that smile very well over the years, because he discovers it is the smile she reserves for him. But it is never the smile that draws his attention - it's that tiny little dimple, sweet and small and secret. When it's not actually showing, he can see the promise of it in her face.
He's never told anyone about it of course, not even her, because for one thing him being so, well, poetic (insert wince here) would either scare people of make them laugh. And for another, they'd probably say something along the lines of, "It's just a dimple." But he knows it's not just anything. He doesn't know what it is (and he never figures it out).
Even after he figures it out, he still stares.
Well come on, you didn't think he'd stop?
A/N: Thanks for reading -- and let me know what you thought of it.
