Kagome ran through the forest. It was getting dark but she didn't care. All she wanted was for him to love her and forget his previous lover, but alas he didn't.

'Well Inuyasha,' she thought 'I'm not gonna stick around and have my heart broken by you again!'

She was running to the Goshinboku tree and to the well that had brought her into this chaotic era in the first place.

When she arrived, after catching her breath, she prepared to jump into the well. She heard Inuyasha calling her name. She turned around and said, without any sign of emotion 'Goodbye Inuyasha. This is the last time I'll hear your voice.'

'But Kagome, I love you! I'm so sorry. Please don't go! I'll do anything. Just give me another chance.'

Kagome yelled at him 'you had your chance! I gave you thousands of chances and you always run off with HER! Did you ever even think of how I felt? I loved you but now, I just don't know.'

She was fighting to keep back her tears 'I hope you and Kikyo are happy together. You deserve each other.' And with that she turned and jumped into the well.

When she reached the other side she sealed it forever.

A few days after she had sealed the well she went back to her previous life. But she was more distant and dreamy. She drifted through most of her school term like this.

As Kagome sat in an English lesson staring out of the window, the teacher made an announcement that made her pay attention.

"Class, today I will be opening a poetry competition. The theme is 'love'. It closes in 3 weeks time. Bring in a poem next lesson, which happens to be tomorrow (4s: convenient neh?) Until then. Class dismissed!"

When Kagome got home she sat down at her desk, picked up a pencil, got out some paper and wrote. The next day she handed in her poem. Her teacher thanked her and the lesson progressed.

The poetry competition had closed and the winner was being announced in a special assembly.

Mrs. Namarari stood up in front of the entire school, waited for silence and read out the winning poem

"This is the winning poem. If you are the person who wrote this or you know the person who wrote this, put up your hand and say his or her name."

And with that, she read the poem.

"All this time I thought he loved me,

All this time I really knew,

The distance between us

Just grew and grew.

All this time I loved him,

Believed we would be one,

All this time he was just a rat

Having fun.

Forever will not heal the pain,

I will never feel the same again,

How I wish that it would rain,

To hide my tears…"

Kagome sheepishly raised her hand and said "Higurashi Kagome. I wrote that poem."

Mrs. Namarari smiled and gave Kagome her prize. It was a book and her poem (along with everybody else's) was in it.

Kagome smiled and thought to herself 'If only Inuyasha was here.'

BACK IN FEUDAL JAPAN

Inuyasha had spent the last 5 months trying to go to Kagome's era and make things right. At first he had jumped into the well. He found out that she had sealed it. He scratched furiously at the cold, damp earth, trying to reach her. He couldn't.

Now he sat alone, weeping in the Goshinboku tree. He took his Tenseiga and pushed it into his stomach. As the world around him faded into darkness he thought of her.

"Kagome…" he whispered. The he collapsed and fell from the tree.

The next morning Keade found his corpse. She fell to her knees, cried and prayed for his soul. His funeral was the next morning. Sango and Miroku were there.

None of them would forget this day.
