Chapter 1: The Competition

~

"May I have your attention please?" Professor Dumbledore tapped his spoon against his glass politely, azure eyes twinkling, "There will be music competition; this will be a great time to show your music talent. The first prize is 1000 galleons," There were loud gasps by this, "And will be awarded a trophy. Each competitor must team up with another, to put it simply, a duet. Both competitors must play the same instruments. The competition will be held 2 weeks from now. You may now return to your Common Rooms. Mr. Potter and Ms. Evans, please see me in my office now." There were loud, excited whispers. Everyone seemed eager to join for the top prize.

James and Lily glanced at each other, then, at the same time, rose from their seats and headed to Dumbledore's voice, hardly speaking. This, was plainly because, they hated each other.

Lily stepped in front of the gray gargoyle.

"Bertie's Botts Favourite Beans?" She tried.

"Cockroach Clusters?"

"Chocolate Frogs?"

"Strawberry Lemon?"

Just then, James finally said coolly, "Cockroaches that crawl are so cool." The gargoyle, amazingly, swung open. Lily stared at it with amusement.

"Ah! My Head Boy and Head Girl. Take a seat," Dumbledore said cheerfully.

"Professor, May I ask what is our need being here?" Lily folded her arms in front of her.

"I know you both don't quite get along," Dumbledore said, choosing his words carefully, "But this is Hogwarts tradition. The Head Boy and Head Girl must enter the competition and perform a duet."

"WHAT THE HELL???!!!" Both James and Lily screamed in unison.

"What instruments can you play?" Dumbledore asked, keeping his cool.

"Guitar." They both answered, then stared at each other in surprise.

"Alright, you both will perform a guitar duet. Every night, you will be practicing and come up with a suitable duet. I really don't think you want to make a fool out of yourself," Dumbledore remarked. They could only nod mutely.

"You may leave now. Tomorrow is a Sunday, I advise you to seize the opportunity." Dumbledore called after them.

They headed back to the Common Room, finding the Fat Lady not in her portrait.

"Shit," James swore, "We're stuck here all night."

"You think I want to accompany 8 hours with you?" Lily retorted.

She walked off.

"Where're you going?" James shouted.

"Somewhere."

Cursing under his breath, and realizing he had no choice but to follow her, he entered a cozy-looking room with dark red velvet curtains. The room was dim-lit.

"What are you doing here?" Lily demanded.

"Same to you."

"Get out." Lily hissed.

"What if I don't?"

"I'll make you."

"How?"

"Like this." Lily twisted James' arm, but his reflexes were too fast. Immediately, he had her pinned back against the orange-colored wall.

"How are you going to make me now?" James whispered huskily.

"Shut up," Lily glared at him. Suddenly, she realized his and her faces were only inches apart. His dark messy fringe fell over his dangerously sexy chocolate eyes.

Their lips were closer, and closer…
