A promise is a promise

Isabella, or Bella, had just moved to Forks, Washington with her parents Renee and Charlie. She's six years of age, with long mahogany brown hair and chocolate brown eyes, much like her fathers.

The Swan family was invited to the Cullen's house, their new neighbors. The Cullen's had a son who was also six years old. Bella was nervous about meeting the boy, afraid that he might not like her. She also was excited underneath her fear because she may also gain a new friend. Her mother had dressed her in a sweater and dress pants with her hair let down for the occasion. She was now waiting for her parents to call her down. A few moments later her mother called for her.

Bella got up and the family of three walked next door to the Cullen's place. When they rang the doorbell, a little boy with messy penny-like hair and bright emerald green eyes he had on a green sweater and slacks, answered the door.

"Mom, Dad. The Swans are here!" he called to his parents.

A man with blond hair and green eyes appeared at the door a woman with the same shade hair as the boys and blue eyes at his side. The boy was a perfect mix of the two. Bella could not hide the fact that this family was very beautiful.

"Hello. I'm Carlisle Cullen and this is my wife Esme, and our son Edward." the man, Carlisle, introduced his family. Carlisle shook Bella's Father's hand.

"Hello, I'm Charlie Swan. This is my wife Renee and our daughter Bella." Bella's dad also introduced his family.

"It's nice to meet you all. Come inside," Esme said. She then turned to Edward, "Edward, why don't you show Bella the backyard," she suggested.

"Okay," Edward said, then to Bella's surprise Edward grabbed her hand, she blushed a deep red. "We can play on the new tire swing!" Edward said to her as they ran towards the backyard - Edward still holding Bella's hand.

Once they had reached they backyard they slowed to a walk.

"Would you like to go on the tire swing? I could push you if you would like?" Edward asked Bella he wore a croaked grin on his face.

"Sure," Bella responded with a shy smile on her face. Edward led the two over to a large oak tree with a tire swing attached.

Bella climbed on "You won't let me fall?" Bella asked as Edward started pushing her.

"I promise never to let you fall," he said sincerely.

Bella screamed and laughed as she rose higher and higher into the air: she hadn't had this much fun in her life. After what felt like hours the two of them were called in for dinner. As Bella tried to climb off the swing she lost her grip and was about to fall to the ground.

Before she could, she felt the arms of Edward catch her by the waist. "A promise is a promise," he whispered into her ear then bent down to kiss her cheek.
