A/N: I'm not totally sure why I felt compelled to write this, but it was floating around in my head and I figured why not.

"Harry, are you really going to do this?" Ron asked, giving his best friend a look of pure confusion.

"Yes, Ron, I'm really going to do this."

"After everything they did-"

"Including saving my life, Ron. I'm not saying anything that isn't true."

"I think the Ministry figured you'd be testifying against them."

"I'm testifying against him, Ron, I'm testifying both for and against her."

"I guess." Ron shook his head. "You're a better person than I am."

"I'm sure you'd have done the same."

"I'm not."

Harry entered the chamber, sending whispers through the crowd. He was sick of the whispers.

"Mr. Potter," said Kingsley Shacklebolt, sitting at the head. "You come before the Wizengamot claiming you have testimony for the trial of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy."

"Yes."

"Is your testimony for, or against the defendants?"

"Both," said Harry, and the whispers intensified tenfold. Even Narcissa, who clearly knew to what he was referring, shot him a shocked look.

"Both?"

"I have evidence to confirm that they're Death Eaters, if you need any more of that to convince you. And as far as I'm concerned, Lucius Malfoy can get life in Azkaban. But I have some testimony to lighten the charges on Narcissa Malfoy."

Kingsley pursed his lips and studied Harry for a moment. "Very well, Mr. Potter. We have enough evidence to convict already, but in your defensive testimony, you may proceed."

"The defense calls to the stand Harry James Potter."

Harry took his place.

"What, Mr. Potter, is this testimony you have about Mrs. Malfoy that you believe should lighten her sentence?"

"I owe her my life."

"In what way?"

Harry took a deep breath; this was the bit he had been dreading talking about. "During the Battle of Hogwarts-"

"The events of 2nd May 1998."

"Yes. During the events of 2nd May 1998, I went into the forest to confront Lord Voldemort alone."

More whispers.

"My reasoning, I do not feel is necessary, but Voldemort used the Killing Curse on me, and I did not fight back."

Now the chamber had fallen eerily silent, as everyone listened to his story. Taking another, shakier breath, he continued.

"I believed I was going to die, but I did not. Why this happened I will not divulge, but Voldemort sent Mrs. Malfoy to see whether or not I was dead. Upon finding out that I was alive, she could have told Voldemort this, and he would have proceeded to kill me. Instead, she told him that I was dead, and in doing so saved my life so that I could rejoin the battle."

"Mrs. Malfoy, is this true?"

Narcissa glanced over at her husband for a brief second, and then she nodded.

"Very well. Mr. Potter, thank you for your testimony."

"How'd it go?" asked Ron.

Harry shrugged. "I told them the truth."

"And? What's the result?"

"He got life in Azkaban, though he claims he has information to trade for his freedom."

"And her?"

"She's not getting put in Azkaban at all."

"So you saved her."

"Well, she saved me. Fair is fair."

"Like I said, Harry, you're a better person than I am."
