Snow
In a place where the clouds stretched so far that it seemed like an ocean of clouds, the sunlight lit upon a boy's face. His skin was pale, and he had long black hair that was tied into a bun, his name was Haku. His face twitched a little as he woke up. His eyes slowly opened. He lay on the ground remembering nothing, and then he remembered his last words,
'Zabuza-san…'
His eyes shot awake from their dreamy state and he tried to stand up as fast as he could, stumbled, and fell onto his hands and knees. He stared at his hands that were clenched into a fist. He started to cry.
"Z-Zabuza-san, it's so lonely out here…"
A teardrop fell onto his clenched fist and it slid down into the clouds.
"Please, I want to be with you, take me back to you, Zabuza-san…"
He closed his eyes shut as he remembered his past. His parents and how happy they were together, and how that all fell apart in a moment. How Zabuza had taken him in when nobody needed nor wanted him. How happy he had felt, to be needed again, and how lonely he felt now that death had taken them apart.
"Let me go back… I need to go back to him… the only person who made me necessary to this world… Please!"
Haku wiped his tears with his hands as he wept. Then, a hand reached down in front of him. Haku stared at it surprised. Then followed it up to the face of Zabuza, his master. His bandages were not on his face, just the way they were when he died. He smiled slightly, and put his hand down lower.
Haku took his hand and stumbled up. He may have not been able to stand up by his self, but with help of a person important to you, you could do just about anything. This was the power of two who felt strongly for one another.
Haku smiled up at Zabuza, as Zabuza rubbed a tear off his cheek.
"Zabuza-san, I'm glad you're here… I mean I'm not glad you're dead! I'm just glad that you're here with me… no, ummm…"
Haku stumbled trying to find the right words when Zabuza put a hand on Haku's shoulder and said,
"I am just happy that my last wish came true, and I can be with you after death."
He said that with a small blush. Haku looked at him with surprise but smiled and said,
"Yes!"
Then Snow began to fall onto the clouds. Haku and Zabuza looked up at the sky. Haku laughed and held his hands up to the sky. Zabuza looked up at the snow silently.
"You know Zabuza-san… maybe these snowflakes represent the mistakes we made."
Haku said looking at a snowflake resting in his hand, as Zabuza silently listened.
"But once they hit us to remind us of their pain, they melt into water and slide off us now, because we can be with each other for eternity."
"I have made many mistakes, and I am sorry for all of them, but none of the other mistakes match up to the fact that I used you as a tool."
"I forgive you Zabuza-san, don't worry."
Zabuza looked at Haku who was still staring up at the sky as snow floated down on to him. He took Haku's hand and they walked on together, hand-in-hand. But they were not afraid of what happened after death, because they were not alone, they had the one person they wanted to be near the most, holding their hand.
"I love you Zabuza-san."
