Of the Sea and Of the Land
Chapter I The Myth
In the early times of this world, the land, sky, and sea were separated and by three beast-like deities. The land was ruled by the Phoenix of Fire, named Akashi. The sky was ruled by the White Tiger of the West, Shiro. The sea was ruled by the Dragon of Water, Azul. The dragon and phoenix have always been at odds with the tiger always being the peacemaker between the two in meetings.
Their feud stemmed from the feud of their respective people. The sea dwellers were angry with Akashi's people taking resources from the water. The land dwellers were angry with Azul's people for killing them at sea.
But hidden away from their followers and their people, the two beast deities of fire and water had fallen in love with each other with the only one knowing being the white tiger. They were in the process of creating a truce with the help of their peacemaker and their wards, but the affair between Akashi and Azul was uncovered by the dragon's head priest. The Head Priest forced Azul to wed an enchantress from the sky in order to have a stronger alliance with the sky dwellers and Shiro.
Akashi and Shiro went to rescue Azul and run away together. The Enchantress, enraged at being abandoned at the wedding, unleashed her dark powers onto the two spirits, planning to kill the two.
Akashi, unable to lose Azul again, sacrificed himself to protect his love. Azul, heartbroken over losing Akashi, used his own powers to trap the Enchantress in the deepest part of the sea.
Using so much of his powers to seal away the Enchantress drained so much of Azul's life away. Turning to Shiro, Azul made him promise to watch over Akashi when he reincarnated and to help them find each other again in their next lives.
The white tiger created a human family on the land, searching for the reincarnations of Azul and Akashi.
The phoenix was reincarnated into the family of Shirogane, the family of the white tiger. The dragon was reincarnated into an orphaned boy, adopted by descendants of sea dwellers who live on the land now.
The stars were aligning to have the phoenix and dragon reuniting with each other again.
