The air in the Student Council room had changed. To an outsider, the only change would be the absence of a particular person. But anyone who knew anything about the situation within, would understand how this one person's absence had completely altered everyone's mood; especially that of the Student Council President, Ayuzawa Misaki.
She had been feeling very out-of-sorts lately. As much as she denied it, it was all thanks to one person; the perverted, outer space alien- Usui Takumi. His recent change in manner had really affected her. It was nothing visible but his visits to Maid Latte and the Student Council room were far less frequent than before. And even when they met, his attitude would be that of someone about to lose something very precious to them. He still teased her and chuckled deeply every time she would get flustered because of him. The thing that really unsettled her was this air of vulnerability that hung about him these days.
'Stupid, perverted, outer space alien,' muttered Misaki darkly.
As if on queue, the door slid open and a tall figure came in,
'Yo Prez. So you're thinking of me even when I'm not in school? Do you miss me that much?'
Very predictably, Misaki turned a deep red shade and started spluttering,
'That's not…Stupid Usui…Why would I…'
She eventually calmed down a bit and surveyed him closely. Same spikey blonde hair, same mouth, slightly upturned on one side. But his eyes seemed different. He had a slightly worried look in his eyes and seeing this Misaki asked,
'What's wrong Usui? You look worried'
He let out a slight chuckle and said,
'I have not visited Maid Latte for 2 weeks and my attendance at school has also been poor. I was worried that Prez will be very angry and upset with me and not talk to me properly.'
Just as she was about to retaliate, she made eye contact with him and was stunned at how helpless he looked.
'I know that I'm known as the Demon President but that doesn't mean that I have no understanding. I know there are a lot of problems in your life right now and I accept the fact that you can't spend your time as frivolously as you did before. Yes, it does bother me but I know that you have no other choice. I hope you remember that if you ever need me, I'm always here to help you,' she finished, having acquired another deep blush on her cheeks.
As he took her hand, she expected some irritating remark from him but instead, she got the most sincere and honest smile she had ever seen on his face as well as words which made her heart skip a beat and heat up her already flushed face.
'Thank you, Ayuzawa.'
