The page was covered in tiny black numbers. Rows of neat measurements and calculations that made his head spin and eyes water. Janet had handed him the crisp white sheet, explaining what she could. He was human. As human as his friends, as human as he'd ever been.
But, and here she circled a small collection of digits, here's the small difference. It was a five. It should have been a three. And that one number among a field of numbers meant everything. It meant he was different, more, that he had to be more.
He just didn't know how.
