The bullets of water hit hard as they rained down upon the churchyard. A group of black hearts huddled under the shelter of the old willow, shifting uneasily as they waited for the bodies of their loved ones to arrive. With ferocious winds of pain pounding into them, they unconsciously pulled coats tighter to their bodies just hoping to block it.
With tears in their eyes, the women held tightly onto the arms of their men while the men with masks of stone set upon their faces, pretended the tears running down their own cheeks were really the rain. Not a word was whispered as Edward and Isabella made their way down to the crypt.
With untouched faces turned to each other, they were lowered onto the table-tombs. A slight smile was upon Bella's face as if she knew her love was near by. Here together at last, you would have thought they were just in a peaceful sleep instead of with the spirits in the sky.
One by one, the Cullen's and Swan's slowly approached the graves holding a rose.
Charlie was the last to find his way to the table-tombs. Fire caressed his heart, making his breaths come out raggered. His hands tightened their hold on the roses.
Cautionly stepping up to the grave of Edward, the air was knocked out of him, for he had never seen his face so calm. He truly looked just like his father. Lightly patting his arm, he placed a red rose on his chest, symbolising the love and passion he knew he had for his daughter.
Facing his child, he hesitated.
His heart raced. The white rose trembled in his hands. Seeing his daughter was too much. The tears tumbled down, covering his cheeks in salty stains.
Gently lifting up Bella's hand, Charlie laid down the rose of loyalty, and stepped back. He chose these two roses for a reason. For while they are two different symbols, together, they take on a newer and stronger meaning. One of unity. For these two roses became one, just as Edward and Bella. And he lowered his head in a silent prayer for his children.
Gradually all heads went down with closed eyes. The winds picked up but unnoticed by everyone, a sliver of sunshine peeked out from beneath the clouds, lighting up a single red rose that lay forgotten in the wet grass.
And under the cover of the old tree tops danced a couple, staring deeply into each others eyes, not caring for the wind, rain nor the mourning parade. Fading in and out with the wind until finally, disappearing.
For these two star-crossed lovers wanted what they couldn't have. But in death, they shall be together again. And the heavens cried hard that day, flooding everyone in tears of misery. For never was a story of more woe, than that of Isabella and her Romeo.
