For the Sake of the Children
Summary: For Many years the Demonic Kingdoms have been at odds with the Human Wizards. The original cause of the rift between the two races has been lost to the decades but now centuries after the original falling out the governing bodies have decided that it was time to end the war. Will the new generation be able to put the sins of the old behind them or is history doomed to repeat itself with the Innocence of children the next Victim.
Prologue: We Walk As Lions
Today we live, today we breathe
Today we know that we are strong when we are weak
Today we trust, we overcome
Take every chain that kept us slaves and throw em' off
Minato looked up from his desk where the newest Minister of Magic Millicent Bagnold had written to them wishing for a ceasefire between the British Ministry and the Celestial Kingdoms. They had agreed to a ceasefire with the other nations years ago simply because they preferred to stay to themselves and as long as the humans stayed away from their own they would do likewise but what the British Ministry wanted was something more. They were requesting help with the current Dark Lord that was running around and where willing to offer the integration Demon kind back into British Society something that he just couldn't wrap his head around. Of all the requests that he could have expected this was not one of them. The Minister wanted the children to meet at an earlier age and what better way to do that than to have them all start Hogwarts at the same age? Apparently the ministry was under the impression that the Demons didn't go to school or train in the magical arts or that was what he was gathering from the letter.
He wanted to turn the letter away for the way it was so insulting. He wanted to burn it and go show the foolish humans just why the Demons had been so feared for so long but he didn't for two reasons. Both of which were laying in the next room with their mother who had finally got them down for their nap. Naruto Uzumaki-Namikazi and Kurama Kyuubi Namikaze his twin boys who were so different it were almost impossible to believe they were from the same Litter if you hadn't been there. Naruto was his and his wife's heir having inherited both of the family's bloodlines and seeing as Kurina had lost her ability to bear children because of a vengeful human 80 years ago they were the only children that the couple would have and both where over protective of the two children.
Naruto their eldest was the over protective big brother and was obviously a dominant just from the way he was pushing his brother around and always trying to take the lead. Minato knew that if they didn't step in and train him it could very likely get out of hand and Kurina would kill him if he let their son turn into one of those stuck up dominants who didn't let their submissive even breath without permission. It was one of the few things that Kurina had been adamant about when they had mated and if Minato had learned anything in his years with his mate it was that you did not piss off the fiery red headed woman because she would completely ruin your life until you saw things her way.
Kurama on the other hand preferred to stay to himself or cling to his brothers tails and didn't like being separated from his brother. Not to say that Naruto liked it either but Naruto had made friends with some of the heirs from the other kingdoms and even with the Nobel families within the Celestial realms. The Subaku siblings were probably the closest of the friends that the two boys had. Temari was the eldest daughter and was a bit of a demanding person granted she was terrified of her youngest brother who seemed to only tolerate her. Kankaru was barely around since he had taken after their father and preferred to pretend that his younger siblings didn't exist. Gaara was to put it nicely Psychotic. The young red head and his twin sister where not to be trifled with and even Minato hated having to deal with the two crazy red heads. Because their mother had died during birth their father had blamed Shukaku and Gaara for her death and had taken it out on them even trying to kill them on multiple occasions. Unfortunately because of this the two children had snapped and seemed to enjoy causing pain and misfortune to those around them which is what made Minato shudder since for some reason the two had actually hit it off with his two children. Like Kurama Shukaku was quitter when she wasn't ripping the wings off something or causing pain she came off really innocent and that just increased the creep factor. But whatever the case Naruto seemed to be able to keep the other two children under control and for that Minato was forever grateful. The other member of the ragtag group was Yugito Nii who was probably the best behaved of the children. Unlike the other group who were all twins and direct descendants of the Original Demon Lords Yugito was the daughter of Matatabi the Mate of the Current Lady of the Twin Tailed Kingdom Kirara.
Of course the group was friends with Sasuke Uchiha as well as Hinata Hyuuga but none of them where as close as Gaara, Shukaku, Yugito and Naruto where. Minato put the letter in a folder and stood up deciding he needed to check in on his children the paperwork, and the decisions could be put off until later after all the children wouldn't stay this young for long and he was sure that he would one day want this back. When Minato opened the door to the playroom where the kids often would sleep during the day he couldn't help the smile that broke out across his face as the whole group where in the room. Gaara was curled up against Naruto's back his red hair falling into his eyes and his arms wrapped tightly around the waist of his sister Shukaku who was resting on Yugito's back since she was curled up in a little ball using Shukaku's legs as a pillow and of course Kurama was clinging to Naruto's shirt with Naruto resting one small hand on his head and the other was in his own mouth sucking his thumb. Minato couldn't help but grab one of the many camera's that he and his mate had stashed around the manor just in case they ever stumbled across a scene this cute.
After taking the picture and then putting the camera back in its hiding spot he went looking for his mate deciding that there was more interesting things he could be doing than paperwork while the children were asleep and nobody needed his immediate attention.
Naruto yawned as he stretched his little arms above his head his nine tails stretching out behind him whacking Gaara and Suki in the face with them causing him to blush slightly when Gaara swatted it away and Suki bit one of his tails causing him to yelp slightly as he yanked the tail away from the crazy red head. His tail was bristling as he held it in his hands looking at Suki with a pout on his face. "Did you have to bite me Suki?"
"You should have kept your tail out of my face. You know me if it's near my mouth I'm gonna bite it" Shukaku said flashing a set of sharp fangs at the fox boy who was looking at her with watery eyes.
Gaara raised a non-existent eyebrow at his sister. "I heavily pity your future spouse if that's your first reaction" causing the others in the room to start to giggle even if they didn't completely understand the full context behind the joke they did know that it made the adults laugh every time Gaara had said in reference to her biting after having heard Minato mumble it to Kushina the first time she had said it.
Yugito stretched arching her back as she looked over at her friends her long blond hair falling in her face causing her to huff irritated as she worked on retying her up out of the way before turning back to look at her friends where Naruto and Shukaku where arguing like they were prone to do since the two while close seemed to always butt heads over the silliest things. "Come on guys if we don't make it to the Garden soon we will be late again! If we are late Mistress Mika is going to feed us our intestines for the midday snack if we show up late one more time this week she is already ready to strangle both of the two of you" Yugito said shaking her head as Naruto had just pinned Shukaku to the ground and Shukaku had decided to latch onto his arm that was closest to her mouth and refuse to let go.
Yugito looked over at Gaara who was normally the one who would intervene when his sister and best friend started to fight since Shukaku was super protective of her little brother and wouldn't hurt him and Naruto was actually pretty protective of the small red head boy after he had seen the way the boy's father had treated him. Gaara looked back at the young hell cat with an exasperated look both upon his face and in his sea green eyes. Sometimes it really wasn't worth intervening when those two got into it.
"Let's just leave those two to it while the rest of us with common sense go to class. It's not just Mika-san today who will be teaching us. Kazuo-san is even more of a stickler for the rules than Mika-san if she will kill us for being late he will resurrect us just to murder us again" Gaara said shaking his head before leaving the room with Kurama, and Yugito quickly running after him to keep up with the other boy who was moving at a fast pace not quite running but still faster than a normal jog even.
When the group of three children got to the Garden where they were supposed to meet their teachers they couldn't help but duck their heads at the irritated glower that the tall male directed at them. His red hair a stark contrast to the rest of him and the way he was dressed. He was wearing a pair of black silk pants and a black silk shirt with silver lines that created a picture of a crescent moon and an iris flower if the light hit it just a certain way. His gold eyes where showing just how unimpressed he was with the children who were really only maybe two or three years younger than his sister.
"Where are the other two brats" he asked his voice low causing Yugito to wince slightly Kazuo-sensei was not pleased with any of them at the current moment.
"Naruto and Shukaku are fighting again Kazuo-san" Gaara responded bowing his head slightly before taking a step back as Kazuo strode past the three children leaving them with the girl who was sitting on the marble bench one of her legs dangling off the other. She had long black hair that she had tied back in a elaborate bun with a few wisps falling down her face as she looked at the three children her green eyes shining mischievously as she stood up showing off the demon slayer outfit that all of Demon Kind had learned to fear at an early age. It was a black skin tight suit with plates of purple tied around her shoulders in a crisscross fashion with a bright blue ribbon. The plates were also on her elbows knees and around her waist all of which were held in place with blue ribbons. On the left of her breast was a Purple and blue orchid stitched into the black armor that showed where the color scheme for her outfit had came from.
"Don't worry about my brother he is irritated but not so much at you lot as the news we received earlier before we got here. The human wannabe Dark Lord has been spotted moving amongst the Kingdoms. It's why the both of us are edge and don't really feel comfortable with all of you separated. Stay inside the Manor and within sight of Lord Hokage and Lady Uzumaki if you do venture out. This Dark Lord seems to have no honor and often attacks the children of those who refuse to submit to him. He has already destroyed a small village on the border between Fire and Wind its part of what we must report to Lord Hokage before we leave today" Mika said a grave look on her face as she looked at the children. Before she was able to reassure the children that they were safe a red jet of light hit Kurama in the back causing him to crumple to the ground his long red hair darkening with the liquid spilling from the hole in his back causing Mika to let out a terrified scream of Kurama as before she could react Yugito joined the young Fox prince as she grasped at her throat where a cutting curse had taken hold the red life essence spilling down her body staining her hair as she gurgled her eyes wide in panic as she watched something hit Gaara beside her as Mika jumped into action a snarl upon her face.
The Death Eaters that surrounded the Garden where not expecting the bladed giant star that appeared out of nowhere and sliced through them with ease as soon as it left the girls hands. The tears that where falling down her face seemed to not impede her in the slightest as she yelled out her rage and reached out around her attacking those around her with the blood that was all over the garden from the deceased. It formed into whips that seemed to lash out on their own barely following the directions that the small girl Gave Them as she struggled to intercept the curses that where aiming at both her and the fallen boy behind her who was staring at his fallen friends with horror in his eyes unable to understand what was going on.
A streak of green light was racing towards the small boy when Mika bodily flung herself in front of the boy the curse hitting her armor and fizzling out but it seemed to stagger the girl something drastic as a hole tore through the material and she was almost certain had shattered two of her ribs as she lay panting on the ground her own body trembling as it protected the Raccoon Prince. She had failed the Fox and Cat Heirs and she would fail this one over her damn dead body. She screamed a deep haunting sound escaped her body as she seemed to be calling on everything she had in her power to protect the boy. Unaware of the fact that her eyes turned pure silver and her skin paled drastically as specters started to raise from around her. The ghosts where only those of small animals a cat here and there and even a fox but all of the specters shared a single defining concept, They had the dark emerald green eyes of the girl who was still screaming as the wind swirled around her the ghosts all tearing into the death eaters that where staring at the girl in horror unable to comprehend the damn demon bitch was able to do this.
When the girl slumped to the ground unconscious only a few Death Eaters remained along with the very Dark Lord they followed. Fortunatly before they could finish their task the commotion had drawn both the guards, the Lord and Lady of the Manor and Kazuo all to the garden. With a look of rage on his face as he noticed his sister slumped as if she was dead and two of the children dead on the ground Kazuo he started to chant something in a deep voice that started to send lightening from the staff in his hand hitting the death eater closest to him stopping his heart and then jumping to the next. While he was using his Magic Minato was flashing across the field slitting the throats of anyone who wore the dreaded death eater garb all the while the Dark Lord was watching the destruction of some of his best by only three demons one of which had been but a child herself. Cursing his luck he ordered the retreat of his forces as he apparated from where he stood a few noticeable death eaters quickly following after him leaving the demons to deal with the repercussions of the attack. He might have lost some of his followers to the Demons but he had taken out two possibly four of their children and they wouldn't recover from that as easy
Kazuo looked down at his sister who was breathing shallowly her chest barely rising and falling as he carried her into the infirmary Lady Uzumaki not far behind him carrying Gaara who was clutching his side in pain but looking at Mika with worry on his young face. He knew that she had been hurt protecting him and while he was proud of her for protecting the boy with everything she had even skills that she had no control over and should not have been playing around with, a part of him was still furious that she was this hurt and the boy was only bleeding from a stomach wound. His sister wasn't much older than they were why was she the one that had been hurt he should have sent her to get the other two and stayed himself he had better control over his powers and abilities from both sides of his family. He was older it was his job to protect his younger sister and while he was arguing with the two hard headed royals his sister had been fighting for her life and the life of the young prince next to her.
'Damn it' he thought as he punched the wall outside the infirmary as the healers bustled around trying to heal his sister and the boy. 'I should have been stronger! It should have been me!' he screamed in his head as he stared at the door the frustration on his face scaring off those who wished to offer their sympathies. 'She can't die. I refuse to let her' he thought as he strode to the office of Lord Hokage where he knew the man and his mate would be mourning the loss of their son quietly after they had to sedate the Prince.
"I apologize my Lord, My Lady but I wish to request the use of one of your owls. I must inform my Grand Sire of the attack and request the aid of our Matriarch. To heal the young Prince and Mika" he said keeping his head bowed while his Grandfather was Technically the Head of the Youkai Council along with his other grandfather and Minato's Father he didn't wish to offend the Lord while he was still grieving the loss of his pup.
"Kazuo you don't have to bow to me you know as well as I that your family is of equal standing if not greater than my own if they only wished to assert themselves" Minato said looking at the boy who was holding himself so rigidly.
"Take what you need Kazuo-san your sister is just as injured and did everything she could to protect our son your family deserves our thanks" Kushina said from her spot on the floor next to her husband where both had been quietly mourning their child.
"Thank you, I am sorry for your loss and wish there was something I could have done to prevent It" Kazuo said as he left to send the letter in hopes of helping the injured. Apparently the death eaters had not just injured the children they had attacked the guards and the village before they made it to the manner while everyone was scrambling to stop the attack they hadn't expected the death eaters to go after the children.
After the boy had left Minato turned to Kushina who just nodded at him as he picked up the paper off his desk that was the request for the war to be ended and for aid against the current dark lord. In exchange the war would end and the Demons could walk freely amongst the humans once more. With a flourish of his quill he signed the papers before sending them off to the British Minister. The Dark Lord would regret having ever stepped foot in the Celestial Kingdoms of that he would make certain.

A/N: Well I have finally finished the Prologue of the new For the Sake of the Children. This is a rewrite of my old story Of Demons and Wizards which I have decided needed to be rewritten. Now that I have finally wrestled this muse into revealing where I was supposed to be going with this I will be working on this story a lot more often until I can get it finished. I hope everyone enjoys this story and I know this chapter focused more on the Naruto characters but I felt like originally I never explained why the two kingdoms had decided to end the war and why the Children had decided to attend Hogwarts. While the Demon Children are older than Harry Naturally they are at the same stage of development that Harry would be at when they start Hogwarts because Demon Children age slower than humans physically. As such the ages from now on will reference what age of human development they are at. Not their actual number of years alive.
