Disclaimer: Harry Potter belongs firmly to JK's impressive literary mind. I do not have that impressive literary mind. Spot the difference.

AN: This idea came from a review I left for RedCloakedMaiden. It's an…interesting idea.

Albus Severus Potter was in love. There was no other way to describe it, of that he was sure. The curves of her body, the way her long black hair fell about her shoulders, even the way she smiled, all added up to form a vision of perfection.

"Earth to Albus." His best friend said, waving his hand in front of Albus's eyes. Albus blinked, before giving Scorpius Malfoy a glare.

"I was listening, you know!" He protested. He rolled her eyes at him and laughed.

"No you weren't." He countered with a grin. Albus frowned even harder. He turned and faced him.

"Ok then Scor, WHAT was I thinking about then?" He asked aggressively. Scorpius's grin threatened to split his face in two.

"You were busy ogling Professor Chang up at the professors table of course." Scorpius replied, hi eyes sparkling. "You do know that she's old enough to be your mother, don't you?"

"Of course I do!" Albus protested. "If things had worked out differently, she'd be my mum, instead of my mum."

Scorpius screwed up his face in disgust. "If she was your mum, that would cover six shades of illegal and a serious gross-out point." Albus playfully tapped him.

"That's why it's a good thing that she ISN'T my mum then, isn't it? I'm serious Scorpius, I'm pretty sure I love her."

"Albus, you're THIRTEEN, for crying out loud." Scorpius pointed out.

"Yeah, it's a shame, because why would a beautiful woman like that want to date a skinny little boy less than half her age?" Albus said morosely. Scorpius nodded.

"Well, at least you can stick to ogling her from a distance." He said, giving Albus a comforting hug.

Standing less than a metre away, Professor Longbottom overheard the conversation and smiled. Despite his many protests to the contrary, it was clear that Albus really had a lot more in common with his father than he cared to admit.
