Disclaimer: I own nothing, though somedays I wish I could write a screenplay with loads of GSR and have it be an epi. But, alas, I can not, and can't write screenplays for crap. Like I said, I own nothing.

A/N: Response to the Unbound weekly challange. This is another Nick/Mia pairing because my Grissom/Sara story was not up to par. It is rated for language. Please R&R and enjoy!

Ouch

"That feels good," Mia muttered sarcastically to herself as she walked into work. She had bumped her arm on the door and could already feel the bruise beginning to form. She walked towards the lab, rubbing her arm as she went. She began to push the door open, but her bag slipped from her shoulder and fell to the ground.

Mia sighed and leaned against the wall for a moment. She'd known it was going to be a bad day the minute she woke up, fifteen minutes late. Mia prided herself on being prompt, so she had skipped her shower and grabbed a granola bar for breakfast. Somehow, she'd made it to work on time, but everything kept going wrong.

"Hey, Mia. Need a hand with that?" Mia had just bent down to reload her bag when Nick spoke. He knelt down next to her and helped her pack notebooks, pens, and an assortment of other odds and ends into her bag.

"Thanks Nick," Mia said, smiling. Nick smiled back and they parted ways. Mia slung her bag back over her shoulder and entered the lab. She sat down on a stool and smiled to herself. Her day had begun to look up.

Mia set to work on a rather large pile, and was nearly halfway through at lunch. She set everything aside, tossed her gloves, washed her hands, and walked to the break room. Lunch in hand. She could hear laughter coming from the room, which only made her smile even more. Good conversation was hard to come by when you were locked in a lab.

She turned the corner, and fell backward. Nick had been leaving as she had been entering, and now they were both on the floor. Nick sat there for a moment and then started to laugh, and Mia laughed, too.

"Are you all right?" Nick asked. He stood and helped Mia up.

"I'm fine," Mia said, still laughing. Nick stepped aside to let Mia in and she nodded her thanks. She sat down at the table, across from Warrick, and watched Nick leave as she took out her lunch. After a few bites of her sandwich, she opened her mouth to speak, but Warrick held up his hand.

"Don't say it," Warrick warned.

"Say what?" Mia asked, an innocent smile crossing her face.

"That he has a nice ass," Warrick said. He finished eating his lunch and stood up. "You can say it when I'm gone, though."

Mia watched as Warrick left and finished her own lunch. She threw out the paper bag she had brought it in and stood up. She leaned against the table and thought about how that day had begun, and how Nick had made it all seem so funny.

She loved it when he did that.
