Chapter 0ne

"Hi. My name is Donatello and I'm going to tell you a story that happened about four years ago. It all started January 31st. Leo's birthday. Master Splinter went to stay in a hotel for a while. April was babysitting us. Which I don't get because we're 15. But anyway, Master Splinter was supposed to come for the party. He never did. April kept on calling him but he wouldn't pick up the phone. Finally April got Casey to watch us while she went to go see Master Splinter. A couple of minutes later we all heard sirens. I thought it was a fire truck. Raph thought it was an abulance. And Leo thought it was a Police car. Mikey hoped it was all three. That way no matter what he'd be right. Raph was right. It was an abulance. April came back and told Leo that we'd have to celebrate some other time. Master Splinter had a stroke. He fell in his bathroom and couldn't get up. Then, he was rushed to the hospital. The first time we saw him we were a little nervous to see him like that. We had no idea why he wasn't moving. April wispered to us that his whole left side was paralized. Two years later he forgot our names! He called me Lefty, Leo was Rocko, Raph was Lu, and Mikey was Seth (I made up Seth because I only have two sisters, not three). I hardly ever saw him. April and Casey were the ones who went to go vist him. One year later, we went away for the weekend. We only stayed one night. We got a call from the Nursing Home. April gave them the phone number to the hotel. We got the call, stayed one night, and went home. Master Splinter had his last rights. I knew that it was his time to leave us. Everyday we asked ourselves: "Is this the day? Is this the day that he might leave us?" About a week later, exactly 1:30 a.m. I woke up from the phone. I went down stairs and saw April. She had tears in her eyes as she hung up the phone. Right away I knew that that was it. He left. He passed on. He died. I ran back to my room so April wouldn't see me. We all woke up around nine. Everyone rushed down stairs to ask April if he went. Not me. I was silent. April slowly nodded her head. Everyone stared off into space amazed. I'm very, very sad that he had died. But I'm glad. He went to live with God and is in a better place. He has no more suffering and no more pain. He left us a year ago from today." Donny walked by a picture of Master Splinter. "Happy Death Aniversiry..." The End

Ann: That's it. That is exactly what happened on Feb.23, 2004. My two Aunts, which are my Grandpa's daughters, put a poem together:

God saw you were getting tired

And a cure was not to be,

So he put his arms around you

And whispered, "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you,

And saw you pass away.

Although we loved you dearly,

We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove

He only takes the best.
