Prologue
A teensy blue hedgehog sat in a small alley, between two brick buildings. An overhead light on the brick building to the left was flickering in the rainy night. The little blue hedgehog sat, leaning against the left wall, on the ground wall. He was hungry, only having eaten a chili dog from a hot dog stand. His biological mother left him with just $5, and leaving him in the alleyway. He spent his last dollar on the chili dog, and was still famished. A purple hedgehog walking down the sidewalk in the busy urban setting, cars honking and all, had just noticed the poor, soaking wet, starving child as she was walking home. When the purple hedgehog met the blue hedgehog's eyes, it sparked something in both of them. It sparked hope, love, and happiness. Instantly, the little one ran over to the purple one and wished for a happily ever after. The purple hedgehog held the poor baby in her arms, kissed him and said to the child, "You poor, poor thing. Let's get you home, with me, where you will be granted with all the love in the world. Oh, I hope I can find your mother."
The blue hedgehog's mother set to work, feeding him formula, bottle after bottle, Mama Hedgehog noticed something. A pair of red running shoes occupied his feet, and no matter how hard she pulled, she could not get them off.
After a day, the blue hedgehog showed his mother his wonderful talent. Well, by running around the house, of course! Plates and vases were shattered all around, on the floor, on the couch, anywhere and everywhere. He ran so fast, that the floral wallpaper flew off of the walls, carpet ripped from the living room floor, and skid marks on the kitchen floor. He even ran so fast, that he started a fire in his bedroom, and ran through the door before he could stop himself. Mama Hedgehog ran over to her child, and said, "Well, this is the fastest child I've ever seen! I know what I'll name you. Your name is Sonic. Sonic the hedgehog. That has a nice ring to it! But you are still in trouble, mister! In your room, now!" Her voice boomed with anger and frustration, but then thought to herself, He'll learn, eventually. And 15 years later, it might as well be a fact.
