Hey guys. Enjoy this, it is a fic for the Easter challenge in the Camp Half Blood Forum.
I went a little over on the word count, It was 727 without the A/N. I hope that's okay. I tried to get rid of as much as possible. I hope y'all like it. :)
Annabeth had been in the bathroom for seventeen and a half minutes. The label on the box told her to wait for only ten but, no matter how many reasons she came up with, she couldn't bear to look at it. Annabeth stiffened as a knock sounded at the door. Percy wasn't supposed to be home for another four hours. Why in Hades is he home right now?
Annabeth scrambled around the bathroom, tossing the test into a box of tampons.
"Coming!" Annabeth tried to calm her beating heart as she opened the door. Piper's cheerful face greeted her and Annabeth stepped aside to let her inside.
"You gave me a heart attack, I'll have you know," Annabeth said, locking the door as Piper come in.
"Why would that be?" Piper questioned dramatically. "Were you having an intimate affair with the boy next door and you thought I was none other than Percy Jackson?"
"No," Annabeth said, frowning. "I thought were Percy, though."
"Are you having an intimate affair with the boy next door?" Piper said, poker-faced.
"No," Annabeth rolled her eyes. "I just- come and look. "
Annabeth's hands were shaking as she led Piper to the bathroom where she plucked the pregnancy test from the box of tampons. She wouldn't glance at it before handing it to Piper.
"So... you were worried Percy was home bec-"
"Piper, I don't want to know."
"Why not?"
"Because it's fucking terrifying."
"Language," Piper said, smirking. "The baby might hear."
Annabeth took a shaky step backward and sat on the edge of the bathtub.
"I-I'm pregnant?"
"Yeah," Piper smiled. "Just wait until you tell Percy."
"How am I supposed to know how he will... you know... react?"
Piper tossed the test into the sink and squatted in front of her, taking Annabeth's hands in her own. "You can't know how anyone will react to anything."
"But this is Percy we're talking about. You guys have been through everything together. I'm sure you can handle a baby."
"Besides," Piper continued, "You guys will be great parents."
She hadn't realized how much she needed to be reassured.
"Thanks, Piper," Annabeth said. "I really appreciate it."
"Of course you do," Piper said with a smirk. "Now, I've gotta go, Jason's waiting."
Piper waved goodbye from the door and left, the front door closing shut with a soft thud a few moments later. Annabeth took a breath and heaved herself off of the tub.
She knew how she was going to tell Percy.
It was 6:00 and Annabeth was nervous as hell. She had set up dinner, nothing out of the ordinary there, and added an extra place setting in between Percy and her.
She was wondering if he would notice, considering how oblivious he was. Stop doubting yourself.
She heard keys jingling at the door. She had nothing to worry about.
Percy came in a moment later, a huge smile on his face.
"How is my beautiful wife doing?" He seemed pleased to say the words and it made Annabeth smile.
"Great, now that you're here." God that sounded cheesy.
He simply chuckled lightly and kissed her forehead. He grabbed a plate and made his way over to the stove, taking in a huge breath when he got there.
"Damn, this smells good," Percy said, turning back to her. "Your cooking skills have greatly improved young padawan."
Annabeth chuckled as they grabbed their food. Percy's brow furrowed in confusion as he sat down.
"Are we expecting someone?"
"Yeah." Annabeth's heart was racing.
"Who's coming by? Mom?" He began to cut his chicken, barely paying attention to anything but his food.
"No. No one's coming by, but we are expecting."
Percy tilted his head in confusion and Annabeth said, "In fact, that seat is going to be permanently taken."
Slowly, his face lit up and he grinned.
"You- We are?"
Annabeth could barely breathe. "Yeah."
Percy ran around the table and kneeled in front of her, pulling back her shirt to reveal her still-flat stomach.
"Hey little kid, I'm your dad."
Annabeth smiled at him and in that moment she knew that everything would work out okay, because Percy would be right by her side through it all.
