Chapter 1: Sassy Thief
It was passed midnight in Station Square. The streets were empty and all the shops were closed. Among these places was the Station Square National Treasre Museum. Everyone had gone home except security, and the place was locked up tight.
On the roof of the museum, two security guards were scanning the area looking for any intruders.
"No sign of anything."
"Yeah. Let's head back inside."
The two guards attempt to leave the roof when they suddenly felt something swoop passed them.
"What was that?"
"Must be windy tonight."
They turn to see if anything was behind them when suddenly their heads are knocked together rendering them unconscious.
Standing before them was Rouge the Bat, a known thief among the city and by extension the country. "Sorry to trouble you boys, but allow me to invite myself inside." She walks up to one of the ventilation ducts and opens it up climbing down.
Rouge crawled through the vents looking around for the prize she had her eyes on. Soon enough she came across the museum's most prized exhibit. A blue Chaos Emerald. "Hello beautiful." The bat opens the vent and slips down.
The guards in the surveillance room were scanning the exhibit looking for anything suspicious.
Rouge reaches into her pockets pulling out an EMP bomb. She releases it into the area setting it off.
The guards look as the feed goes offline.
"What happened?"
"Must be some interference."
Rouge walks up to the display case where the Emerald was being kept. "This is too easy." She readies her pick nails and starts cutting a hole into the glass. Once open, she reaches in and slips the Emerald out of the case.
The guards continue to fumble with the controls trying to get the feed back online.
The bat looks at the cameras. "Got to make this quick." She slips in a decoy Emerald into the case and places the glass back in the hole. "They won't even know it's gone." She flies back up to the vent and crawls back through.
The guards get the feed back online as she see nothing out of the ordinary.
"Weird. Normally when that happens someone is robbing this place."
"That feels like too much of a coincidence."
Rouge climbed back out of the duct on the roof as she looks around for anyone or anything. "Talk about a clean get away." She spreads her wings ready to take off when suddenly she felt something prick her arm. "Ow!" The bat reaches and pulls a dart out of her arm. "Oh, great." She collapses to the ground.
The roof guards she had taken down earlier approach her holding tranq guns.
"I can't believe that worked."
"Let's get her to base like the boss wanted."
One of them picks Rouge up over his shoulder as the two of them escort her to their base of operations.
