Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "James and the Queen of Sodor" from Season 7. Enjoy and comment.

The engines on Sir Topham Hatt's railway want to be responsible, reliable, and really useful.

They are always happy when he gives them important jobs.

James thinks his work is very important indeed. He is proud of his shiny red paint, and likes to look clean and useful.

One day, Percy puffed up to the wash-down.

"My whistle is clogged!" he puffed.

He tried to unclog it by blowing on it, but he blew mud all over Gordon.

This made Gordon very cross.
"Who did this?!" snapped Gordon.

Percy was trying not to laugh.

"Don't get me dirty!" said James. "I'm collecting the mayor today!"

"I should do that!" boasted Gordon.

"Silly Gordon!" laughed James. "You need a wash-down first!"

Then James puffed away, laughing louder than ever.

Soon, James had collected the mayor, and puffed proudly away.

On the way, he saw Gordon.

"Look at me Gordon!" laughed James. "I am the proudest engine on Sodor!"

"Show-off!" grunted Gordon.

Later that day, Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds.

"I need an engine to collect the Queen of Sodor."

"Who's the Queen of Sodor?" asked Thomas.

"A leaky old barge." replied Sir Topham Hatt."She needs to go to the workshop! It's dirty work I'm afraid!"

Just then, James pulled up to the sheds.

This gave Gordon an idea.

"Is this job important?" asked Gordon.

"Very important." said Sir Topham Hatt. "Do I have a volunteer?"

"I'll do it!" exclaimed James.

"James shall collect the Queen of Sodor. She is waiting at the canal."

"Thank you sir!" said James as he puffed away.

Gordon was delighted that his plan was working.

James soon arrived at the canal.

I'm here to collect the Queen of Sodor!" he exclaimed.

"She's right here." said the yard manager.

James was furious.

"That slimy old tub is the Queen of Sodor? Gordon tricked me! He wants me to be dirty! A shiny engine likes me never gets dirty!"

Soon James set off with the Queen of Sodor.

"Shiny is better than dirty!" said James to himself.

Then there was trouble. The toll funnel of the Queen of Sodor crashed through a old, leaky pipe!

James was nervous he get dirty, but thankfully, he didn't!

"Shiny is better than dirty!" exclaimed James.

The workmen soon cleared the mess, and James set off again.

Soon, James arrived safe and sound to the workshop!

When James arrived back at the sheds, he was feeling very pleased with himself.

"How did you stay so clean?" asked Gordon.

"I have to stay clean." boasted James, "in case there's important work to do!"

Just then, Percy returned from the quarry, very dirty.

"My whistle is still clogged!" said Percy.

He blew his whistle again, and dirt landed all over James!

"You're gonna need a wash-down now James!" teased Thomas.

"Good!" snorted James. "It was make me readier than ever!"

Everyone laughed, except James, who puffed sternly away to the wash-down.
