IN THE NIGHT
It was a very dark night. And it was also very late. The full moon was partially covered with dark black clouds. The street was silent and lonely, except maybe for a few passing taxis and a girl. She was wearing jeans, trainers and a jacket. You couldn't know the colour of her hair, for it was bundled up into a cap. A cold breeze found its way into the cap, bringing a small strand of blonde hair undone.
Looks like Zeus is in a foul mood, Annabeth thought. She had never liked the dark. And today, the dark seemed unnaturally eerie to her; and it also didn't help that it was Halloween's Night. Her younger step brothers had always found it incredibly delightful to torment her, especially when they found out about her fear of spiders. They always pranked her, and it always involved spiders and other creepy things. She had a completely rational reason for being afraid of spiders, and that was because she was a daughter of Athena, but surely her immature step brothers wouldn't understand that. Neither would her step mother.
The wind picked up in speed, and she stuffed her hands deeper into the pockets of her jacket. The wind also happened to give her the hint of motion behind her; like trainers on concrete. Her storm grey eyes widened and her heart started beating fast. She didn't slow down nor did she stop walking.
Why had she made the stupid promise? Why had she made it when she knew she couldn't possibly fulfill it? Today was most probably going to be the last day of her life, and that was all because of a stupid promise. The person whom she had made the promise to was not a person who could easily be fooled (even though she considered him a bit stupid). She knew that the person knew where she lived, and that was the only reason she was out at this ungodly hour at this ungodly day. Being in San Fransisco as a demi god was not okay, but she had her knife with her. I would rather fight a monster than face him, she thought feverishly. She quickened her pace. Another gust of wind. Her tracker had also increased speed. Looks like he doesn't want to make his tracking subtle, she mused.
Suddenly, once she turned around the corner, she started running at full speed. She was sure her wit would help her escape this ghastly situation. As expected, her tracker too started running. She made her way in and around the streets, never turning back. She was brave, but not brave enough to see the face of her tracker. Yet.
All her thoughts were focused on her tracker. This proved to be flaw, when she found herself stuck in a dead alley. Her tracker was in a similar get up as her, but he had covered his head with the jacket hood. "Hello Annabeth." Said the oh-so familiar voice. "You had promised me blue cookies. I hope you have kept up your promise." Her tracker covered the short distance between them, a gust of wind blowing his hood back. His sea green eyes were sparkling and his look was intense. Shit, Annabeth thought. Why did I promise him blue cookies?
