"Blunk, look" Irma began as Blunk was scurrying through his stash of garbage looking for something, "I know I agreed to let you show me your 'collection' but I've got to go home soon!"

"Wait! Wait!" he called from behind a particularly big pile of old newspapers. "Here somewhere! Blunk see it yesterday!"

Irma sighed and sat down again on her milk crate, a small smile breaking through her resignation. He was so weird.

"Here!" he suddenly called out and Irma got up to see. She half expected to find a collection of old toothbrushes but what she did see was more surprising.

From the floor to the ceiling was a gigantic pile of garden gnomes. Most broken but a few in perfect condition.

"Um…it's really nice Blunk" she said, unsure of what else to say.

He beamed. "Blunk's prize collection! Irma like? Irma can have one if Irma likes! Thank you from Blunk!"

She took a second look at the pile. There were gnomes of every shape, size and color and Irma didn't know which one to pick. Finally, she broke into a grin and pointed at one. Blunk bounded over and brought it to her.

"Good choice! One of Blunk's favorites!"

"Thought so" Irma laughed, "It looks just like you!"

She inspected it closer and drew back quickly.

"Ugh! Smells like you too"

"Greatest compliments Blunk ever hear!"

Caleb: Wait a minute, wait a minute! Doesn't 'gnome' start with an 'N'?

Stray: Clearly you skipped the third grade. It's a 'G'. Look it up in the dictionary.

Caleb: But…why?

Stray: Because it helps you find words. Now—

Caleb: Not that! Why does 'gnome' start with a 'G'?

Stray: For the same reason 'knowledge' starts with a 'K'.

Caleb: It does?

Stray: (groan) It starts with a 'G' because the four stuffy old men that came up with the English language said so. Now, why are you talking to me? Don't you have a world to save or something?

Caleb: Why are you talking to me? Don't you have stories to write?

Stray: Touché
