Sarah hadn't the slightest idea what had gotten into her long childhood friend, Victor. He was such a sweet young boy when her parents were alive and now he was cold, cruel and a shrewd young man like his father. Victor was now sixteen and Sarah was fifteen and they had grown so far apart since the death of her parents. Only to him did Victor ever confess Sarah was still beautiful and charming. He found her in the gardens one afternoon, lying flat on her stomach and reading one of those pathetic fairytale books. "What's the sorry little baby doing now?" Victor asked, with a cold laughter. "Your parents are never coming back! They're dead!"
Sarah got up with tears in her eyes and she tore the pages with colourful fairies and elves drawn into the book. Victor felt a pang of regret for a small moment as he watched his "friend" tear up the book he had bought her for a birthday present when they were little children. "That's what you've done to me, Victor." She cried, tears falling down her pale face. Victor wanted to help her but his father was a monster—so he just went along and tortured the poor girl. "You've ripped me apart like a worthless book! It all means nothing to me now!"
"Sarah—" he began but she darted off down the stone path, sobbing. "SARAH!"
His father appeared behind him with a proud grin. "It must be done. You did well, my son. Now that half-wit girl will not bother us. Mr. and Mrs. Xeno have put the girl under their care and you will forget she ever existed or there will be punishment."
"Sarah's my friend." The young Victor said, saddened. "You took her away from me."
"It's all for the better, Victor. Now we may continue the search for the anc."
After the garden incident, Victor tried to write Sarah a note but he didn't seem to have the heart to ever finish or send one to her. He had lost his only friend, and because of his father—he would regret it.
A/N: I know it's not great, but I got the idea off the episode when Victor and Sarah had their childhood flashbacks. I hope it's decent for a one-shot and please no flames! I hope you enjoyed anyway =)
