"We'll change the Empire from within, Flynn. That's a promise."

Tried to walk together

But the night was growing dark.

Thought you were beside me

But I reached and you were gone.

Flynn had always hoped that he and Yuri would stay the closest friends. It was as the closest friends that they had survived the lower quarter as children. It was as the closest friends they had joined the knights in order to change the Empire from the inside.

Sometimes I hear you calling

from some lost and distant shore.

I hear you crying softly

for the way it was before.

Now it seemed that there couldn't be any more distance between them. Yuri had quit the knights, become a guild member… and a murderer. And Flynn hadn't known what to do. Sometimes, Flynn wondered if Yuri felt the same way… if he just wanted to go back to a time when things were simpler.

Where are you now?

Are you lost?

Will I find you again?

And now he was gone. Gone off the edge of Zaude, and Flynn found himself hoping and praying more than ever before. He could only hope now, because he didn't know where Yuri was… or if he was even alive.

Are you alone?

Are you afraid?

Are you searching for me?

Was Yuri alive? And if he was, what was he doing? Was he hurt, or was he simply taking his time coming home? Was he looking for Flynn… like Flynn was looking for him?

Why did you go?

I had to stay.

Now I'm reaching for you.

Why had Yuri run ahead? Fynn knew he had run ahead to defeat Alexi, that Yuri had been the only one able to defeat Alexi. But Flynn had been down and now his best friend was missing and maybe dead. Flynn would never forgive himself if that was the case.

Will you wait?

Will you wait?

Will I see you again?

Would Flynn ever see his best friend again? Or had Yuri slipped away from him without Flynn having had a chance to say goodbye?

You took it with you

when you left.

These scars

are just a trace.

Flynn had been angry when Yuri quit the knights. He had been angry and hurt that Yuri couldn't keep their promise, and he had never… he had never actually told Yuri that he had forgiven him. And Yuri had believed that he wasn't needed by Flynn's side anymore. That he wasn't worthy to stand there.

Now it wanders

Lost and wounded.

This heart

That I misplaced.

And now, Flynn regretted never telling Yuri those important things. That Yuri was the only one he wanted where he stood, that Yuri was an important part of everything that made Flynn. And if it became true that Yuri wasn't there to hear those words anymore.. Flynn would always regret it.

Where are you now?

Are you lost?

Will I find you again?

Are you alone?

Are you afraid?

Are you searching for me?

Why did you go I had to stay?

Now I'm reaching for you.

Will you wait?

Will you wait?

Will I see you again?

Yuri couldn't be dead, Flynn had to believe that. He had to believe that he would see his friend again, and that he would have a chance to tell Yuri the words he had left unspoken for too long. Flynn would find Yuri.

That was a promise.
