I don't own anything

A thousand words won't bring you back, I know because I've tried, neither will a million tears, I know because I've cried. – Anonymous

The whole word seemed to stop.

At that moment the center of his attention was on her.

Nothing mattered but her safety.

Her breaths were becoming heavy.

And her heart gave it's final beat

Annabeth Chase had died.

He sat in his cabin looking at Chiron's picture of the two of them. Back when they were happy. Back when she was alive.

He was a mess. He hadn't eaten or slept in a number of days. All he could think about was her golden hair and stormy grey eyes. The face he loved. The one that lit up when she saw him, and he held when she cried. But it was gone now.

He was haunted by nightmares. The image of the sword entering her body played over and over again. Her screams echoed.

He held her hand while she died.

"Percy."

"It's okay Annabeth, it's fine. You're going to be fine."

She shook her head. She could feel this was the end.

"This is it."

"No. You're not going to die. You're going to live and go to college. And become a famous architect. And you're going to get married and have kids and live happily ever after."

"Seaweed Brain."

His tears were dripping everywhere.

"Percy… I love you Seaweed Brain."

"I love you Wise Girl."

One

Inhale

Two

She gave little cough.

Three

Exhale

"Percy…"

And she never got to finish that thought.

He saw her once after that. Here grey eyes still frozen in that moment, her body 16 forever. She was never going to grow up and do all the great things she planed. There were so many smiles left unsmiled, thoughts left unthought, words left unspoken, building left unbuilt. Her whole life stopped.

And his did too.

Before they burned the shroud, he wanted to speak to her one last time.

"Wise girl. " He said.

"My beautiful amazing wise girl. You'll never know how much I love you. When I was in Roman camp, I remembered you. I imagined us there. Sitting watching our child chase seagulls, laughing."

He had so much to say. But he couldn't say anything now.

"I love you Wise Girl." He choked out between sobs.

"I love you so much, please…"

But it was useless. He started into her stormy grey eyes, the ones no one had closed.

One

Inhale

Two

His tears dripped down his cheeks

Three

Exhale

He closed her eyes.

And he kissed her frozen dead lips one last time.
