I've only just finished reading the Twilight books, and the bits it made me cry at were all to do with Jacob. Those people who've read Ecilspe will know Jacob stayed in wolf form, and that Bella was due to be bitten. This idea came into my mind after reading Ecilspe, and I had to write it down. It's set after Bella's been changed.
I felt my new, sharp teeth with my tongue yet again. I shivered slightly, but Edward wrapped his arm around my shoulders. His skin felt as cold as always, but it was a pleasant cold now - not the icy cold he'd been before I'd changed.
"You're going to do fine, Bella," he whispered, and I couldn't help relaxing as he kissed my forehead gently. This was my first hunt, so he'd know how nervous I was. I was still trying to get used to the idea of me, Bella, being a vampire, and having to kill to quench my thirst. I could feel the way it grabbed at me, and I was finally understanding what Edward had to go through when I was still human.
"I know," I replied, holding onto him. "I'm glad I changed. Honestly," I added as his eyes met mine.
Edward sighed. "I love you, Bella."
I hugged him with my surprising new strength. "I love you too."
Edward smiled gently as he brought the car to a stop. We both got out, and I couldn't help shivering again. This was it. My first hunt.
It was just us two - I'd wanted it that way. I was sure Edward would be able to handle me himself as we hunted. I reached out for his hand, giving it a tight squeeze.
"Ready, Bella?" Edward whispered, moonlight shining on him.
I nodded. "Ready."
Holding hands, we began to run through the forest - running at the speed of vampires. I couldn't help but marvel at the grace I moved with as we plunged deeper into the forest's depths.
We emerged at a small clearing, and Edward turned to face me. "Just let your instincts take over," he reminded me quietly before kissing me. My lips moved with his for a second, and then he broke off, grinning. "Good luck."
I gave a weak smile back as I strolled into the forest. Edward had told me it would be easier if we hunted seperatly - that way we wouldn't be tempted to steal each other's prey.
After a while, I wondered about turning back. I suddenly was filled with doubt, which seemed to overcome my thirst. I wasn't sure I could kill anything.
And then, suddenly, I heard a rustle and an animal appeared in front of me. I couldn't see it clearly, but I was already attracted to it.
Blood.
I moved forward slowly, bent over. I bared my teeth, no longer controlling my instincts. The animal shifted slightly. It looked like a large, russet-coloured bear. As I got close enough, I crouched, ready to lunge. But then the animal turned it's head towards me, and I felt shock flood through me.
But it wasn't enough to stop the hunger.
No! I screamed silently at myself. Stop it!
But the vampire in me had already made my body lunge towards it. My teeth caught in it's neck, and immediatly I began to feed.
No, no, no!

Edward found me after I'd finished. I'd been lying amoung a tree's roots, sobbing my heart out, still screaming in my head. He quickly wrapped his arms around me, lightly kissing my forehead. His kiss brought new tears to my eyes as I remembered someone else who'd kissed me, not softly like Edward, but wildly and passionately. I rested my head against Edward's chest, wetting his shirt with my tears.
"What is it, Bella?" he asked me softly, holding me close as my body racked with sobs.
I could still taste the drying blood on my lips, still see the surprise and horror in his eyes as I'd drained the life out of him...
My first hunting mission.
And I'd ended up killing the best friend I'd ever had - Jacob Black.
