Vanessa knew that she was probably being unfair.
Okay, scratch that, there wasn't any probably about it. She was being unfair.
She was being unfair to three, unique, charming (in their own separate ways) men who probably deserved better.
Again, scratch the probably.
Vanessa couldn't help it though. In a way, she loved all three of them, for three completely different reasons.
Johnny was her first love, the darkness she reveled in, and a man who knew his way around the shadier areas of the law.
Monty was the all-American hero, the best guy you could ever meet, and the one person Vanessa was sure could understand why she was the way she was.
Ferb… Ferb was just Ferb. Quiet, intelligent, and above all, completely devoted to her.
Johnny and Monty… They both had other things going. Monty barely had any time for her what with gradually taking over his dad's responsibilities with that stupid animal agency. Johnny probably could have made more time for her, but he usually put making money and not getting caught before her.
Ferb… Vanessa honestly didn't know what was up with Ferb. They kind of just met up every once in a while when they happened to cross paths. Danville was large enough that that didn't happen too often, but small enough that it happened enough.
Somehow, Vanessa had found herself juggling these three, completely different men in a cycle that was impossible to break.
Vanessa knew it was wrong. When you grow up with a super villain for a father, it was kind of easy to distinguish between right and wrong. She couldn't help it though.
When she spent time with Johnny, she was sure that they'd be together forever, doing shady deals and eventually building a quasi-legal empire to leave to their completely adorable and devious children.
Then he would run off for days on end, either making a deal or hiding from the authorities.
She would run to Monty at that point. He would comfort her, and she would ignore his righteous 'You shouldn't associate with that type' lectures, and they would end up spending their days talking, making love, and sipping cappuccinos in the most hipster coffee house they could find.
Then he would get busy with the agency thing, they would fight, and she would storm off in a huff.
This was usually about the time she would run into Ferb.
Her encounters with Ferb were usually quick, exciting, and left her longing for more with no idea how to get more.
Sometimes she would get caught up in whatever Ferb and his brother were doing. Sometimes they just sat and talked. (Well, she talked. Ferb just sat there and gave her completely annoyingly right advice)
Whatever they did, it usually only lasted an afternoon, and before she really knew what was happening, Johnny would be back, and the whole process would start all over again.
Vanessa knew it was unfair. But it was her life.
