"Dib I don't think you're going to find any mermaids."
Dib huffed at Zim's response. How could an alien be so narrowed minded?
"Why don't you think I'll find one?"
"Because they're not real."
That caused Dib to stare at Zim in shock. How could an alien invader not believe in mermaids?
"Why do you say that Zim?"
"Because a half fish, half hyuman creature is illogical."
"And I suppose a green boy with glowing red eyes and antennas is logical."
"Yes it is because I exist mermaids don't."
Angry at Zim, Dib bolted out of the hotel room. It was their vacation and Zim already found a way to piss him off. True Dib probably shouldn't have taken the young Irken to the beach considering he was allergic to water. But Dib really wanted to see a mermaid! He had heard from the swollen eye paranormal society that this beach had many mermaid sightings. And he wasn't about to let Zim's negative comments discourage him not to look for one. Dib headed onto the beach shore. Since it was late their wasn't much people around, except the occasional couple.
Sighing Dib glanced envious at them. He and Zim were supposed to be on a Romantic getaway instead he was alone. Shoving his self-pity aside he pulled out his night vision camera and began to scan the water. After hours of walking down the beach Dib sat down under the pier. Usually one night failure didn't bother him but Zim's words rang throughout his head. What if he was wasting his time? Time he should be spending with Zim. Before Dib knew it he fell asleep in the sand.
"Dib-worm! Wake up!"
Dib was woken up to see his green lover hovering over him.
"Zim? Where are we?"
"The beach you numb skull! You fell asleep. If I was any later you would've been caught by the tide."
Dib smiled at Zim. He stood up and embraced the smaller teen.
"Zim I'm sorry I wasted our time together looking for mermaids."
Zim let out a contempt sigh and hugged back.
"Dib-beast I have no problem with you looking for other paranormal creatures. But I do have a problem with you endangering yourself by sleeping on the beach."
Dib nodded and released his grip. He began to gather his things when he spotted his camera was still recording. Picking it up he began to rewind the film when something caught his eye. In the corner of the camera was what appeared to be a human shape? It sat there for a bit and then went under revealing its tail. Seeing the footage caused Dib to jump in excitement.
"Zim did you see that! A real live mermaid!"
"Um yeah? Too bad no one will believe you."
It was true. No one would believe him. They didn't believe him about big-foot kid, or the fact Zim was an alien. Dib shrugged.
"Who cares if they believe me or not. I just wanted to know if they exist. And now that I know I can rub the fact that they do in your face you Hippocratic alien!"
Dib laughed in victory as he ran back to the hotel room, Zim running up from behind. Dib loved when he was right, especially if Zim was wrong.
