There's a point when you realize it just isn't worth it anymore.

The fights between each other.

The fights against others in which you defend each other.

The walking out.

The coming back, and making up.

The cycle in general.


There's just a time when it has to be broken because everything else already is, and you're out of crazy glue.  Truth is, even if you weren't you aren't even sure there's enough pieces to glue back together anymore.

Besides, it's just too much work to try anymore.

Not that walking away from this will be that much easier.  After all, you've invested so much into it already that it'll be hard to try to find love somewhere else.

To open yourself up to love again.

Right now it's clear that love isn't enough to keep a relationship together.

And if that's the case you can't help but wonder what is enough.

Promises. commitment. a contract—because isn't that what a marriage is--- are broken along with your heart.

The only thing left intact is the gold band on your finger.

And so you stand in a dimly lit hallway. 

A last kiss still lingering on your lips as the behind you clicks close, muffling what can be either a sigh of relief or a sob.

Selfishly, you hope it's the latter; you don't want to be the only one with the broken heart here.

But then again, you always were the one with more to lose.

That was one of the problems that lead you here.

Ironic that in the end you've both losers, isn't it?
