This is an edited version, last version had problems. Thank you crackedradrio for pointing them out, and suggestion alternatives.
How was she supposed to protect what she cared about when she cared for someone whom charged towards death? His eyes no longer held sanity, he was no longer driven with desire to live.
(Yukimura, don't run)
With his spear raised high he had charged the main camp. Why? Why could he not try to avoid death's painful grasp, when everyone around him expected him and told him the same thing. They all wanted him to live. How many times had the words been repeated?
(Yukimura, don't let yourself die)
She could keep up her cheery facade for only so long. In truth she was deeply afraid. The world around her was slowly unraveling. In her terror that shook, she was fearful that he would die. She swore he would live. She wanted to protect him. She wanted him to be safe.?
(Yukimura, everyone wants you to live)
She was a ninja. No matter what her friend said, she could do only do so much. As a ninja she did as she was bade, a tool. She was destined to remain in his shadow, but as he stormed forward, his shadow fell behind him and became a gap between her and him. She could not reach him.
(Yukimura, where are you)
He would not stop. No matter how much she wanted him to be here, he was gone. She could save him when he was surrounded by enemies. He fought then to survive. Now he fought from desperation, desperation he felt for so long that he was tired.
(Yukimura why will you not try to live)
The castle was falling. It would be breached, there was no hope for the castle to remain standing. It was true, she knew with sinking desperation, that should they survive, there was no where left to go. Her outfit was stained with red of her enemies, her knives bathed in the very same red.
(Yukimura, what will happen)
Exhaustion takes its heavy toll upon her. She has not the amount of energy he has. Of her hero, her samurai, her master. She was losing, he was losing, they were all losing. No, she could not let him fall. He was needed.
(Yukimura, why can't I protect you)
He is so much farther ahead of her. She can no longer see him. The very shadow of his that she lives in disappears. There is no going back, for he has made his choice. She is the one no longer needed.
(Yukimura, why can't I keep up with you)
There is no wining left for her. No victory left to be held in her small hands. She can feel it, this is the end. The many swords around all glisten with the sun. She badly parries one. Tiredly dodges the archers arrows. Feebly she tries to sidestep a spears swing, the spear deflects her exhausted block. The cool blade digs into her side. Her own crimson red blood gushes down mingling in the dried blood of slain enemies. She falls.
(Yukimura, I'm sorry)
It is time for her to die. Like coarse rope cut away by a too dull knife, the threads of her life slowly began to fray then break away. Her life slips away like water in a hand.
(Yukimura….I love you)
Death weakens her body but before it can drain away all of her, she manages to say one last thing.
"Yukimura."
Kunoichi's life is at an end.
This is supposed to be a one-sided Kunoichi/Yukimura, angst fic.
Reviews would be highly appreciated, I'd like to know how people take this, hopefully it isn't anything to far what I meant it to be.
