She sat out in the hallway, ignoring the sounds of laughter music, and other merriments. Sighing, the blond pulled her laptop onto her lap, and turned it on. After doing so, she quickly logged onto the internet, where she promptly headed for a news site.

"Hey, can I join you?" A voice said. The blond looked up and nodded, quickly returning her attention to the laptop's display.

"Sure, whatever." A tall, dark haired boy took a seat on the plush carpet right next to her, and draped an arm around her shoulder. Instinctively, she leaned back against him. The sounds of "As Time Goes By" drifted out into the hall.

"I'll miss you, Chlo," he said.

"I'll miss you too, Clark. You know you can always visit us in Metropolis, though."

"You'll probably be too busy shopping with Tori or something like that," he said.

"Oh, Clark, I'm still Chloe. Just because Dad remarried doesn't mean I've changed."

"I know..."

"And I'll come visit all the time. After all, I need to see how the Torch is being ran in my absence..." Chloe said, an amused tone to her voice.

"Why aren't you in there, anyway?"

"I spent two hours in there... I just needed to get out, and think."

"So you came into the hall," Clark stated.

"Yes. Why aren't you in there, getting up the nerve to ask Lana to dance?"

"She's dancing with Pete."

"Oh." The pair sat in silence, listening to strains of "Dream A Little Dream". "Thank you," Chloe said. "You know, for saving me all those times."

"It's no problem. You would've done the same for me."

"Yeah, I would've. But really, thank you," Chloe said.

"So you're leaving tomorrow morning?"

"Yeah. I'll be setting up everything at the house, while Dad and Tori go to England."

"Good luck on getting onto the school paper."

"Luck?" Chloe asked.

"I mean, I know you will..."

"Nice save, Kent."

"Just stay out of trouble, Sullivan. I expect to see you next weekend, so you better be good," Clark said, standing up.

As he helped her up, Chloe said, "Count on it. I want to see the Wall of Weird updated next time I visit with the latest meteor freak."

"Will do. I promise, scout's honor," Clark said, holding up the boy scout sign.

Chloe checked her watch, and put her arms around his neck. "I have to go. Love you, Clark."

He wrapped his arms around her, and held her for a few seconds. "I love you, Chloe. I'll miss you." She kissed his cheek and grabbed her laptop off the floor.

"Bye Clark!" She called, walking down to the elevator. And as he watched his best friend walk away, the band played on.
