This is a one-shot at the end Shadow Kiss. This is my take on what might have happened if Rose hadn't gone after Dimitri when Lissa confronted her, with a few added bonuses. Lissa is OOC but she has to be for my story to work. Enjoy!

Rose sat in a deserted hallway of the school, crying. It was just two days since Rose had almost left the Academy to chase after her one true love, Dimitri. But in the end she hadn't done it, for the sake of Lissa. Now she was miserable: there was no one who knew her as well as Dimitri had. Lissa didn't understand what it was like, losing her true love. None of her friends did.

As she continued to weep, soft footsteps filled the hallway. Rose quickly scrambled to dry her tears; why make others worry and make them think that Rose Hathaway had gone soft. The person stopped upon seeing the teen-age girl drying her tears.

"Rose?" The voice was one Rose knew well, only lacking the sarcastic edge she was used to hearing in it.

"Go away, Christian. I'm not in the mood," she whispered hoarsely, trying to cover the fact that she'd been crying. She'd never live it down if he told the rest of the gang she'd been crying alone in a hallway.

He knelt down in front of her and tried to look into her eyes but she determinedly kept her eyes focused on the floor, as if it was suddenly the most interesting thing in the world. He put his hand gently under her chin and forced her to look up at him, to let him see her pain. Surprisingly, his icy-blue eyes were soft and it made Rose relax; he didn't expect her to be okay, he knew she was hurting. He gently brushed the tears away with his fingertips.

"What's wrong, Rose?" his voice was surprisingly soothing and kind.

"Nothing, Christian, I'm fine," he looked at her, his eyes clearly showing that he didn't believe her, "I miss him, Christian, so much. The only reason I didn't go after Dimitri was because Lissa made me feel guilty, like I was abandoning her for something I could never have."

His eyes flamed upon hearing this, "She did what?" He was pissed. He knew that Rose was a little rough around the edges but if there was one thing Rose loved more than fighting or Lissa, it was Dimitri. He brought out the softer side in Rose, he revealed the young, fragile girl that she was underneath the attitude and molnija marks. Dimitri made her whole.

She sniffled, "She was like, 'Rose, what about me? Aren't I important enough? Oh you're just gonna up and leave me for some guy. Thanks a lot, you're a great friend.' I couldn't leave her like that, thinking I hated her, but I made a promise to Dimitri. Christian, what should I do?" She started sobbing again; once again showing how truly young and fragile she was.

He sighed, disgusted by his girlfriend's behaviour towards Rose whom was supposed to be her best friend. He looped an arm around the crying girl's shoulders, hugging her close to his side. "I don't know, Rose. It will be okay, I'm here for you. If it were Lissa that I made a promise to, I'd do the same thing. I understand." He kissed her forehead softly, comforting her in her time of need.

She leaned against his side; she was glad that she finally had someone to talk to that at least understood what all this meant to her. Christian was a comfort, a friend, and a confidant and she was glad to have him.
