Hermione sat by the pond outside the Burrow. It was twenty minutes until the New Year and Hermione was excited. As she looked back at the Burrow she could hear the Weasley's and she smiled to herself. She looked out at the frozen pond and her smiled grew as it began to snow. She heard soft footsteps in the snow behind her. She turned and smiled once again when she saw her boyfriend walking towards her with two glasses.

"Where's you shirt?" she asked him when she noticed it was missing.

"George is a bit drunk and thought it would be funny to play a 'prank' by vanishing everyone's shirt to who knows where in the house," he explained as he handed Hermione her glass. She smiled and took his offered hand to help her stand. They both walked back to the house and as they walked in George was the first to spot them.

"'Ey I 'ound you 'Red," he said and hugged Fred and then proceeded to hug Hermione. They watched him walk to the kitchen table. He sat down, smiled at them and continued to drink his fire whiskey.

"Just a bit drunk?" Hermione laughed.

"Mum must have stopped him from drinking a lot because he's normally a lot worse then this," Fred said while glancing at George again. Hermione only laughed again and walked with him to the living room where everyone else was. Soon enough it was a minute to midnight and everyone was listening to the wireless.

"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one…"

As everyone else was shouting "Happy New Year" Fred got down on one knee and pulled a black velvet box out of his pocket. Hermione froze.

"Hermione Jean Granger, will you make the perfect start to the New Year and marry me?" he asked. Hermione's vision got a bit blurry as her eyes began to water.

"Yes," she said and he slipped the ring onto her finger. She flung herself at him and kissed him. When they broke apart Fred rested his forehead against hers.

"Happy New Year," Hermione whispered.

"I have a feeling it's going to be a very happy year," Fred said before kissing her again.
