A/N: Short little one-shot that popped up in my mind the other day. Enjoy! (:
Screamer.
"I am what you Americans call a... a screamer, yes?"
Kate leaned closer to her computer screen, becoming suddenly engrossed in her work. It wasn't really a conversation she wanted to become a part of, and she didn't need to look up to know what her coworkers were doing. Tony more than likely had a shocked, excited look on his face and was staring at Ziva in joyful disbelief. He probably had his elbows on his knees and his head on his hands, studying Ziva's face carefully, trying to determine whether she was being honest or not.
"Well?" he prodded impatiently. He must have figured she was being truthful, Kate mused. There was no doubt in her mind that his eyes were gleaming in a way that betrayed the secrecy of the images flashing through his mind, the noises echoing in his brain.
"But, you know"-Ziva paused for a moment, and Kate guessed that she was biting her lip in thought, trying to choose the right words-"only if it is good." Kate fought back the smile that tried to creep onto her face, instead concentrating on the slightly blurred words on the screen in front of her. She heard Tony shift in his seat, and she would bet her paycheck that he was getting closer to the edge of his seat.
"Yeah?" he asked, and she could practically hear the smile in his voice.
She guessed Ziva nodded, because there was a few moments of silence. "I have been screaming a lot more recently," Ziva teased, and given the sharp breath that Tony let out, Kate assumed it had worked. She could practically hear the gears turning in his head as he tried to figure out who it was Ziva had hinted at.
Kate looked at Ziva out of the corner of her eye, and found that the other woman was looking in her direction, too. A smile fought for control of Kate's face and it won for a slight second before she beat it down again; if there had been any question in her mind that Ziva hadn't seen it, the smile that was shot back at her would have erased all doubt. They both knew it was true, after all.
Nobody could make Ziva David scream quite like Kate Todd could.
