A belated birthday for our own Kristen3. This is a continuation of mine and hers Leah stories. If you haven't read those stories, this may be confusing, but I hope you will enjoy.

It was Leah's wedding day, and it was hard to say who was more nervous, Leah or her father Niles Crane. Of course he would reluctantly give her hand away, after being asked for permission by Leah's fiancee, Joe. It was with some hesitance that he said yes, after all, Leah was only 20. But it was the circumstances in which Joe asked for permission that led to Niles' reconsidering- Leah was expecting a baby.

Still in college, Leah was still a baby, at least in Niles' eyes. She had the world going for her, she was studying to be a psychiatrist like her father and uncle, when the unexpected news came. After Niles tearfully called Leah, it was she who did the reassuring that everything would be all right. The university which she attended had a child care program, and she wanted to marry Joe. Apparently she'd known from the minute she'd laid eyes upon Joe that he was the one for her. Who was Niles to argue with that reasoning?

He knew the reason all too well...love at first sight was merely an understatement about how he felt about David and Leah's mother, Daphne. She was a vision, a goddess, too good to be true. Fortunately over the years he'd come to see her for who she was and he'd come to realize that he loved Daphne all the more for being human. Faults and all, Daphne was the only woman he'd imagined spending the rest of his life with.

That was, until the day Leah was born. Then he could not imagine leaving Leah's side at any point in her life, let alone during a time like this. If Daphne was an angel, what did that make Leah? She was perfect, pure and simple, much like her mother.

If David had taken the Moon genes, Leah had gotten the Crane ones to be sure. A naturally gifted vocalist and pianist, Leah had exceeded at everything she'd tried to do, whereas David had struggled somewhat. A good boy, David had his share of misadventures over the years. At least he hadn't turned out like Simon, who'd been sentenced to ten years in the prison for breaking and entering. Some comfort, Niles had sighed.

That was the beauty of Niles' and Daphne's relationship. When one was hurting, the other was there to comfort her. After the news of Leah's pregnancy hit Daphne, she found herself comforting her grieving husband.

"There there, nobody's perfect."

"But..she's our daughter? How could something like this have happened?"

"I must make a confession to you. It may come as somewhat of a shock.." Daphne stared in the distance.

"Whatever you have to say won't change my mind how I feel for you. You and David are the loves of my life, you know."

"Would you still feel the same way if I told you that I had a scare once?"

Niles looked curiously at his wife. "What kind of scare, dear?"

"A pregnancy one. It was with a Pakistani chap, he was smooth, debonair, and very smart."

"How smart was he if he put you in that position?" Niles demanded as he started to hyperventilate.

"We were both young and not too smart, if you catch me drift. At the time I was disappointed. But I can thank God every day that I was destined to be your wife and the mother of David and Leah. Things happen, we may not always understand them, but things always work out for the best. Hasn't our love taught you that?"

Niles smiled as he kissed his wife. "It sure has."

"I love you."

Niles took her hand. "I love you too."

Now it was Niles' turn to take Leah's hand as he escorted her down the aisle. Yes, things may not have turned out for his daughter exactly the way he had planned for her, but as he knew well from experience, sometimes life could turn out even better than planned.
