He's Lying
Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar, though at points I wished I owned some of the characters. I also do not own "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas.
Author's Note: Wow, I haven't written a story for awhile, or at least since I posted Like You for Batman Beyond. Welp, here is my one-shot for Jet and Katara. This should be interesting, and yes I know its super late since we've already had the season finale for season 3 of Avatar, which sadly enough I did not see. This is set after Lake Laogai, in Jet's point of view and his last good-bye to Katara.
Jet: (tenderly) Don't worry Katara, I'll be fine.
Toph: He's lying.

I told her I'd be fine, not to worry. Had she really known it'd come to this? She probably did, having told the others in the group how bad it was. Everything I told her was the truth, nothing was ever a lie. Except, for right now and only once before, but now it was on such a higher scale. I had to lie to protect her, not because I was a leader, fighter, or friend. It was because I truly deeply loved her, it was just…she would never know.
I lied to her, even though she knew the truth. I knew the truth too, I was bleeding from the inside and not just from a broken heart. I hadn't know how to live, I had been empty until she came into my life. Now, slowly my life was slipping away and wouldn't slow down for me to catch up. I shut my eyes, feeling it getting harder to breath. I was choking, my own cold blood drowning me. I wouldn't ever die in some heroic battle, no memorials would be erected in my honor. I was just a boy, who would never truly become a man.
This was my death, the end of my life. I lied to protect her, told her I'd be fine even though I wouldn't be. She knew, she probably did and she knew I loved her without even saying I did. She knew because I lied, I loved---no I love her so I lied and die giving her my last final good-bye.
Author's Note: This is one of my shorter and not well written stories, at least in my opinion it isn't that well written. Yeah, that's it and eventually I will get to the sequel of Karaoke Avatar Style!
