TRAINING

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

Kind of like "Helping Out The Rangers", but not related to it. Takes place right before "The Song Of Confusion". For this fic, Justin had gotten to know Kimberly and Jason after the events of the Turbo movie. Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. And I have nothing against the newer Turbo team; I just always felt that in some ways, they didn't take Justin seriously as a teammate, such as in "Carlos And The Count". I only own the plot.

After finishing his warm ups, Justin approached the punching bag and began punching and kicking it. However, unlike most kids his age, his attacks were tight and controlled, possessing a fighter's quality. He did a roundhouse and then a back kick.

"Hey, you want a spotter?" a voice asked. Justin turned around to see Jason.

"Hey," he greeted. "Yeah, that'd be great," he answered. Jason held the bag as Justin began punching it again.

"Don't lock your elbow so much, let it hang loose a little," the older boy coached. Justin nodded and followed the instructions. After working on the punching bag, Jason pulled out a few mats and led the boy into a kata.

"So, how's the new team?" Jason asked.

"They're okay," Justin answered with a sigh.

"Just okay?" Jason asked.

"They treat me like a kid sometimes," Justin answered.

"Even though they're the rookies," Jason stated.

"Yeah," Justin nodded. "They won't ever train with me. They say it's too dangerous," he continued.

"Tommy and the others were careful with you," Jason reminded.

"Yeah, but they took me seriously. These guys don't. Sometimes I feel like they're a team, and I'm just tagging along," Justin answered. Jason put a hand on Justin's arm comfortingly and then they continued. Presently, the other Rangers, Carlos, Ashley, TJ, and Cassie walked in and headed for a table.

"Hey, who's that with Justin?" Carlos wondered as they sat down.

"I don't know," Cassie answered. They watched them for a few minutes. The Rangers watched as the kata turned into a spar.

"Hey, he could get really hurt," Ashley stated. Yeah, Justin was a Ranger like them and had the protection of the Power, but this guy was older and significantly stronger than him.

"I'll handle it," TJ assured. He stood up and headed for them. Cassie gasped as the older man flipped Justin over his shoulder, and their companion landed on the mat with a loud thump.

"Justin!" At once, the other Rangers were by his side.

"Are you all right?" Ashley questioned, helping him up.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Relax," Justin answered, pulling away. Jeez, I'm not a baby! And the fall was perfectly controlled! he thought.

"Are you crazy?" TJ asked.

"What did you think you were doing?" Carlos demanded at the same time, pushing the other man. "You could've really hurt him," he continued.

"Oh, chill out, Carlos. Divatox and her monsters aren't going to cut me any slack, so why should Jason?" Justin responded.

"Justin, you know this man?" Cassie asked.

"Of course I know him. He's an even bigger legend than Tommy," Justin answered. Jason laughed.

"What's going on here?" Detective Stone asked.

"Justin and I were just training," Jason answered.

"Yeah, and they freaked out," Justin added.

"Justin, we understand that you have a lot of Martial Arts training, but you're younger than him, and he should've been more careful with you," Ashley told him.

"I like that he doesn't hold back! He challenges me!" Justin exclaimed.

"All right, all right. If you guys are going to argue, take it outside," Detective Stone told them.

"Come on, Jason. Let's go to the park. I think I need some more space," Justin suggested.

"Yeah, all right," Jason agreed. Then, they left, leaving Carlos, Ashley, TJ, and Cassie to stare in stunned silence.
