Warning: Mentions of sex
Disclaimer: I do not own all of these lovely characters; I just borrow them once in a while.
Akihiko knows it isn't love.
Or that's what he has himself believing as the strong and familiar weight of Shinjiro's body presses against him, causing him to gasp slightly in the quiet room. The TV can be heard downstairs and another from down the hallway in Junpei's room. If he's not careful, Akihiko knows he'll be too loud. Just another thing Shinjiro likes to tease Akihiko about. The things they did, they didn't mean anything. It was just some way to let out pent up energy, nothing more and nothing less.
Akihiko knows it isn't love.
Lovers kiss, caress and mutter sweet nothings to each other. Shinjiro only bites down hard on Akihiko's neck, creating an all too noticeable bruise that Akihiko knows Mitsuru will see like a hawk does its prey. Instead of caresses, Akihiko grips down hard on Shinjiro's shoulder blades, his knuckles going white as Shinjiro grinds down hard on Akihiko's hips, making their erections rub and slide together. And when it comes to sweet nothings, Akihiko doesn't imagine the words 'fuck' and 'bastard' qualify.
Akihiko knows it isn't love.
When you're in love, you do special little things for your partner. Buy them gifts, see them often, and take your time in bed to let them know they're special. Akihiko didn't forget Shinjiro's birthday, but also didn't give him a gift. Shinjiro thought of the idea of birthday gifts as silly and unneeded. Akihiko wished he agreed. Seeing Shinjiro was like trying to see a ghost. He came and went as he pleased, and only now that he was back in the same dorm, right next to Akihiko, did Shinjiro seem to feel obligated to make a regular appearance. And when it turned to sex, they never took their time. It was all hurried hands and quick tugs. On numerous occasions, a piece of clothing would be ripped- Akihiko was glad he knew how to stitch up smaller problems.
Akihiko knows it isn't love…
Lovers don't run off and do something as brave and heartbreaking at the same time. They didn't leave the ones they cared for, and they certainly wouldn't leave an unimaginable hole in their lover's chest.
And when Akihiko saw Shinjiro fall that October night…
Akihiko knew it was love all along.
Thanks for reading my first Persona 3 fic, despite how small it was!
