Emma stood in front of the mayor's home, her hands in her back pockets. She had walked Henry home after school; after Regina forbade her to see Henry walking him home seemed to be the only time that she could see her son. She patted him on the back and ruffled his hair. "Well, kid, see you tomorrow," Emma said, brushing his hair back down. Emma saw a look in Henry's eyes that she had never seen before. Before she could figure out what the look was she felt Henry's arms wrap tightly around her waist, his head buried into her stomach. Emma blinked and stared down at the top of his head for a moment before placing her arms around him as well. When Henry pulled away from her, he quickly ran down the pathway to Regina's home, as if embarrassed by his sudden display of affection. When he placed his hand on the doorknob, however, he turned around, grinning widely. "I love you, Mom!" he called. Emma was so shocked that she barely had time to rush out "I love you, too!" before Henry slammed the door behind him.
