"Cool! Da, look! This's a kan-ga-roo. My penpal sent me a picture of one."
"That's nice, son." Buck got up and walked over to him when JD's face fell. "What's wrong?"
"He says a lot of kan-ga-roos are killed by mean people. They might end up in danger. What's that mean, Da?"
"It means there might not be any more."
"That would be awful! I wish animals could talk to humans! Then they could tell the people who're gonna kill them about their families and maybe they wouldn't shoot 'em. You think that could happen, Da?"
"Maybe." Buck sighed. He wouldn't destroy JD's dreams.
