Music bounced off the walls with a thumping beat you could just feel in your bones. Sakura loved parties like this where she could just let go and enjoy with all of her friends. But it was exceedingly difficult to enjoy such a social event when you're hanging out with someone who would rather be inside doing whatever people like him liked to do. This said someone had been broodingly quiet and insistently tugging on her to leave together with him.
Sasori hated parties. Girls threw themselves at him. It was only a matter of time before Girls threw up on him too. Disgusting. It was too loud he could practically feel his bones rattling. The horrible base pounding along with a horrible head ache. He just couldn't see why doing jello shots off of someone's sweaty body could be in anyway shape or form appealing. Sakura was currently chattering away with Ino and Karin, probably getting the latest scoop of drama. Women just loved to do pointless things.
For the third time of the night an intoxicated woman sauntered or at least tried in her too high, high heels. So she came across as a new born fawn wobbling on brand new legs for the very first time. Rolling his eyes at the sight he ignored any advances she tried to make on him until she spun him around by the shoulder and vomited all down the front of his plaid button up. He almost puked himself if not for Sakura quickly ushering him outside into the nice crisp fresh air. He didn't feel as if he was trying to be suffocated by all the body heat packed into that house.
She undid his buttons muttering about how 'The drunken bitch needs to go home!' and other things he couldn't quite make out. It was good that he always wore a plain white tee shirt under all of his tops because he surely did not want to give those slobbering ,sweating females more reasons to try to jump his bones.
Shivering at the thought he focused on Sakura and what she had been saying. "Do you mind if I throw this thing away" She asked holding up the soiled button up. He growled thinking about how this all could have been avoided if he had just stayed home instead of agreeing to this New Year's party.
Sasori was about to tell her that she could go throw it off a cliff for all he cared, it was ruined now. But Bright lights popped in the sky with dazzling colors, and when she turned to him Sakura was smiling brighter and more beautiful than any firework he had ever seen. She looked at him in pure delight and he gave her a small smile as she dragged him to a clear spot in the yard to sit and watch the fleeting lights.
Sakura had laid her head on his shoulder in a friendly matter that made his heart beat quickly. He fought the redness that was rising to his cheeks and ears but he could feel them burning hot. Ino and Sai had sat to join them being a recognizable face soon after Naruto and Hinata along with Tenten and Neji and Shikamaru and Temari.
The lights continued until it was 12:59 pm and nearing the beginning of the New Year when someone started the count down.

The surrounding couples embraced and kissed lovingly even the shy Hinata had brazenly kissed Naruto and immediately passed the fuck out.
So naturally Sasori was surprised when Sakura brushed his hair away out of his eyes and traced along his jaw line until she was cupping the back of his head gently while running the other hand through his fiery locks as soft as his mother had done for him when he was just a boy. He instantly melted into her, eagerly leaning in and kissing her as passionately as he felt.
Smirking, he felt his heart pound out in his ears and he was sure she could hear it just as loudly as he could. "Happy New year Sasori." He nodded and whispered sweetly.
"Happy New year Sakura"
