The night sky shadowed overhead.
Jackson looked down on the bright lights of the city. He sat with his legs dangling from the rooftop of a fifteen story building.
I've been looking for something sacred
Running away from the light
Gotta burn all the bridges in my head
That lead me away from my life
I question my own existence
Question the meaning of life
Melissa paced through the front door of the building, almost hitting someone with the door. She hurried toward an elevator, pressed the button on the wall next to it, then waited impatiently.
Why don't you carry me?
Why don't you carry me?
I can't move on
I can't live on
Jackson watched the many cars trying to get through the traffic. He saw several people hurrying along, too busy to pay him any attention.
But this feeling wasn't new to him.
Carry me
Why don't you carry me?
I can't save me
I am crazy without you
Melissa couldn't wait any longer. She hurried toward a door, then bolted up several flights of stairs. She almost tripped multiple times.
It takes horns to hold up my halo
And strength to get through the fight
Now I'm layin' my cards on the table
Prayin' everything will be alright
I question my own existence
Question the meaning of life
Jackson could feel a still breeze whip across his skin. He had to remind himself to take a breath.
He moved his icy blue eyes up to look up at the starless sky.
The air around him was stale…emotionless…empty…
Just like him.
Why don't you carry me?
Why don't you carry me?
I can't move on
I can't live on
Melissa raced up the stairs, out of breath. But she couldn't slow down.
Time was running out.
Carry me
Why don't you carry me?
I can't save me
I am crazy without you
Jackson stood. He looked around at the city lights that shined all around him.
But they weren't the real thing. They were just an imitation of light--of stars. They were fake.
Just like her love.
It wasn't real. It never was.
But it was too late.
He'd already fallen for her.
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it most
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it most
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it most
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it most
Melissa reached the last flight of stairs. She sped up them, then pushed the door open. She found herself on the rooftop. Her heart stopped at the sight.
Why don't you carry me?
Why don't you carry me?
I can't move on
I can't live on
Jackson turned to look at Melissa--beautiful Melissa.
Her mouth was moving as she ran toward him, but he couldn't hear anything.
He turned his head back to the lively street below him, closing his eyes, preparing himself.
Carry me
Why don't you carry me?
I can't save me
I am crazy without you
Melissa reached him just in time. Just when he was about to jump, she grabbed the back of his shirt, yanking him backwards.
Both of the teens fell to the ground.
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it most
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it the most
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it most
The hardest ones to love are the ones that need it the most
Jackson pulled the girl into a tight hug, tears streaming down his cheeks.
They squeezed each other as hard as they could, sobbing and crying.
Melissa wouldn't let him go.
But Jackson didn't mind.
Maybe she did love him after all.
Carry me
Carry me
Carry me
Carry me
