Strange Dogs
"Potty mama." Jasmine told Jackie while they were at the park.
"Ok, I'll take you to the bathroom." Jackie said.
"Nicky, I'm going to take Jazz to the bathroom, we'll be right back."
"Ok." Nick responded.
Jackie took Jasmine to the bathroom and on their way back to Nick and the other kids Jasmine spotted an elderly woman sitting on a park bench holding a puppy.
"Me pet it." Jasmine declared happily.
"No, you can't just pet strange dogs if the dog was a mean dog it could give you an owie, you have to ask the nice lady if it's ok if you can pet it." Jackie told her.
"Baby dog." Jasmine said, clearly thinking that Jackie was crazy for suggesting the dog could be mean.
"You still need to ask her if it's ok, I'll go with you." Jackie told her with a smile.
"What do you say?" Jackie asked Jasmine as they approached the woman.
"Pet peas?" Jasmine asked nicely.
"Well sure you can pet the puppy sweetheart, especially because you used such good manners." The woman said with a friendly smile.
Jasmine hurriedly sat down next to the woman so she could pet the puppy.
"Thank you." Jackie told the woman as she returned the smile, she always appreciated when people were nice to her children.
"Him nice." Jasmine giggled as the puppy licked her hands.
"It's a girl puppy, say she's nice." The woman corrected Jasmine with a laugh.
"Her nice." Jasmine said happily as the puppy crawled off of the woman's lap and onto Jasmine's.
The lady maintained a tight grip on the puppy though so it wouldn't take a header.
"I've always loved dachshunds' I've always wanted one." Jackie told the woman as Jasmine continued to pet the friendly pup.
"I've had a dachshund ever since I can remember, I wouldn't own another breed, although I have two small grandsons that come over all the time and while they love to play with the puppy I'm always afraid she'll get hurt, my grandsons would never hurt her on purpose of course but I'm still always a little leery just because she is so small, so with little ones around maybe a little bigger of a breed is better."
"That's a very good point." Jackie agreed.
"Dolly?" Jasmine asked the woman.
"What sweetie?" The woman asked.
"Dolly?" Jasmine repeated.
"I'm not sure what you mean sweetheart?"
"Oh, we have a dog named Dolly, she wants to know if your puppy's name is Dolly too." Jackie told the woman with a laugh.
The woman chuckled
"Oh, nope, this puppy's name is Skylar."
"Skyer?" Jasmine asked.
"Yep Skylar."
"Ok kiddo, we better get back to daddy and your brother and sisters before they wonder what happened to us. Tell this very nice lady thank you for letting you pet her puppy." Jackie told Jasmine.
"Puppy home?" Jasmine asked.
"No, we can't take the puppy home, that's her puppy, she would be sad." Jackie told her.
"Sad?" Jasmine asked.
"Yeah, she'd be sad because she would miss her puppy just like you would be sad if someone took Dolly home." Jackie said with a smile.
"Me like Dolly." Jasmine said.
"I know, and she likes her puppy so we can't take the puppy home, but tell the puppy bye and tell her thank you for letting you pet her." Jackie said as she motioned to the woman.
"Bye puppy." Jasmine said as she gave it one last pet on the head.
"Thank you, pet puppy." Jasmine told the woman.
"You're welcome, you guys have a great day, and enjoy this beautiful weather."
"We will, you do the same, and thanks again." Jackie said to the woman before she grabbed Jasmine's hand and led her back to where Nick and the other kids were.
Jasmine always had fun at the park and getting to pet the cute puppy made it all that much more fun for her.
The End!
