The room soon filled with the sound of Simon's phone ringing. He reached into his pocket and withdrew his cellphone, looking on the screen to see Clary's name pop up. He hit the answer button and put the phone up to his ear.

"Hey Fray, what's up?"

Her voice rang through the speaker, replying with a simple "nothing".

"So you just called to hear my amazing voice." Clary's laughter filled his ear.

"No, actually I was just letting you know that you left your glasses here" she answered.

"Did I?" Simon asked as he walked over to his book bag, pulled out his glasses case and saw that it was empty.

"You did. And can I just tell you that you are really blind" she chuckled as she said.

"You're wearing them?"

"Maybe"

Simon couldn't help but laugh, "You're lucky you're my best friend."

"More like your only friend"

"Hey! I have more friends! Eric's my friend."

"Okay, I'm your only normal friend" she said as she let out a laugh.

Simon grinned, "So, have any plans for your birthday yet."

"No. But I still have a few weeks to figure out something."

"Yeah and then in a few more weeks we will be juniors." Just thinking about another year of high school made Simon feel sick.

"Yeah… It's kind of exciting…. I mean we are a bit closer to graduating… And, there are cool things about being a junior. Like, we can now go to prom!" Clary's voice grew more excited as she finished her sentence. Simon on the other hand was not as excited.

"Yippee!" Simon tried to sound excited but failed miserably.

"Oh come on, it will be fun."

"Maybe for you…. I'm sure you will have no trouble finding a date."

"Neither would you Simon. You just have to put yourself out there."

"Put myself out there?"

"Yeah…. Okay how about this. If neither of us have a date, we will go together, as friends."

Simon couldn't help but smile. He couldn't help but hope that he would not find a date to the prom.

"You have a deal Fray." The phone filled with another burst of laughter.

"I have to go; I'll talk to you tomorrow."

"Bye" Simon said as he took the phone from his ear and hit the end button. The smile never left his face as he sat in bed, thinking about the possibility of taking Clary to the prom, not knowing that his summer would soon be filled with shadowhunters and bleach dyed blonde wannabes and that he would never enter his junior year of high school.
