A Siren Named Steele – Athena
A reclusive teenage Athena was training to be a Lance Assassin for the Atlas Corporation in at a small Training academy on a remote world. It was under the hash command of General Knoxx and supervised by an Admiral Crimson. His training regime was brutal and was taking its toll on Athena. She was considered the best recruit which was why General Knoxx was working her harder than the others. So that was why she usually alone in the mess room as she ate her food later than the other recruits due to her longer training. Athena was eating the bland rations when her hot voice asked, "Would you mind the company?" Athena was about to say got away when she was shocked into silence at seeing an albino Siren standing in front of her. Taking Athena's silence as a yes, the albino Siren sat down. She said, "Very boring in here now it is this late in the day"
"I suppose," Athena said on guard and suspect it to be a scheme of General Knoxx to try and get to her connect other Atlas recruits to control her further.
The siren seemed unaware of this as she continued with "I know, even this food is terrible" She said with a grin on her face "Lucky I don't have to eat it" Athena looked over to see what she meant. She nearly salivated as the siren was eating small cupcakes. The siren saw her look and teased "You want one don't you"
Athena said stubbornly "No" even though she wanted one desperately.
"What a shame" The Siren with a charming smile "They are sure sweeter than your rations" The siren continued eating her cupcakes. "Oh, where are my manners, you can call me Steele" Athena did not introduce herself but Steele seemed not to mind. "Look at the time, I better be off" Athena did not watch her go so missed the predatorily glaze on Steele's face. Athena finished her meal but before she left noticed Steele had left a cupcake behind. Athena made sure no one was around and took the cupcake. Athena did not see Steele for another week after a brutal training session where Steele was already in the mess hall, this time she was not eating but reading a book on vaults with an almost obsessive look on her face. Athena stopped in her tracks when Steele had said "Hello Athena" with a smirk on her face. She put down her book. Athena sat down and started eating not wanting to acknowledge Steele's presence. "I see you did want one of my cakes after all". Athena did not reply. This time Steele was not so laid back. Her face darkened and she said, "Hey I am talking to you" She slammed her hands on the table. Athena did not pay attention to Steele's outburst. Steele's eyes filled with rage. As quickly as they filled with rage, a cold calculating look promptly took its place. "I have a deal for you then. I will leave you alone if you beat me in a one on one fight. If I win then you will have to converse with me" Athena still did not answer. Steele said "I will keep bothering you if you don't answer. Believe me, I can that all day" Steele then started making very annoying noises.
Athena said snapping at Steele "Fine, I fight you"
Steele grinned and said "Excellent" and dragged Athena from the mess hall effortlessly. Athena was worried what she could into a Steele seemed no longer angry and her strength was a surprise. Steele dragged Athena into a training area. "I let you have the first move" Athena attacked but Steele dodged her attack with a good mix of speed and acrobatics. Athena then found herself on the floor with Steele's foot on her stomach.
"Shame, I expected more from General Knoxx's best recruit," Steele said disappointed "If that is the best he can do then I dearly weep for the future of Atlas…" Taking advantage of Steele talking, Athena grabbed Steele's leg and dragged her to the floor. She ended up onto of Steele. Steele said "Well done for taking advantage of my weakness, I suppose you are not a dead loss after all" Steele then said playful voice "However, you do realize where your hands are" Athena jumped up embarrassed. "I wasn't complaining" Athena saw that Steele's eyes were full of lust and something else. Something darker. Steele pushed her against the wall. Steele licked her lips. Athena watched as her face got closer to her face.
However, before anything could happen a male voice said "You not supposed to be in here" They both turned to see Lieutenant McCloud.
"Get out," Steele's voice said switching back to anger.
"Sorry Commandant," He said as he made a quick exit.
Steele looked annoyed and said, "I better be off" She kissed Athena on the cheek and said tenderly "See you soon". Steele disappeared with a look of malice on her face. Athena was confused. Steele was probably like the rest of Atlas officers. They all either were Psychopaths, Cold Businessmen or very bad that their jobs. However, Athena found herself attracted to her regardless of being wary of her. It was more likely down to no one at Atlas had ever even acted nice to her. The higher ups did not care enough and the recruits like Athena did not want to get attached to each other.
The next day, General Knoxx had called her into his office. She no longer was scared or even affected by his robotic suit. A battered and injured Lieutenant McCloud was standing next to him. General Knoxx looked disappointed and uncomfortable. Athena subconsciously compared it to Steele's who she found made her Steele bad while Knoxx's one had no effect. General Knoxx said "Do you know why you are here"
"No" was Athena frank reply.
"It is because your little girlfriend Steele attacked him last night in his quarters"
"Girlfriend!" Athena blurted out shocked.
"While Atlas doesn't exactly ban relationships between employees even of the same sex, I am disappointed that you chose Steele" General Knoxx said shaking his head. "Steele is unstable and an uncontrollable element. She is a bad influence" His distaste of Steele was clearly shown in his voice.
"But we are not together" Athena protested. Knoxx did not look he believed her.
"I haven't dragged you in here to discuss your girlfriend, Lieutenant McCloud caught you together in a training room after hours correct"
"Yes"
"Then he left you there correctly without doing anything, Correct"
"Yes"
"Thank you for your statement. Steele will be sent to the brig for six months for assault"
"I'm afraid General, that you are wrong" the smooth voice of Admiral Pollux, an evil looking woman chipped in. Crimson was the typical Atlas psychopath. "Steele said she was sorry and I sure it won't happen," She said dismissively to Athena "You may leave" Athena got out of there quickly. Admiral Pollux said "I told you General, Steele is under my jurisdiction"
The last thing she heard was Knoxx saying "I don't why you allow Steele to get away with everything" Athena knew he would be busy with Crimson so she had time off. However, fate was against her when Steele was nearby standing outside of a training room with two of Crimson's Atlas Soldiers standing to either side.
"I am taking your training today" Steele stated, "Don't worry, we won't be doing Knoxx's training but my own" Athena did not know what would be worst, Knoxx's brutal training regime or Steele's unknown class. She was presently surprised to find a room full of different types of weapons. "All we need to do is see what you are best at using. Mine is a pistol" She said caressing her personal pistol. A wide range of weapons which did not feel right was tried. However, a shield felt slightly right like it meant to be. Steele commented "A unique choice" Athena then was forced into a challenge of finding a gang of bandits. As she used her shield to eliminate them she did not notice Admiral Crimson watching with keen interest.
"Excellent work," Crimson said pleased. Steele was about to speak. She ordered with a warning in voice "Leave u" Steele did not move. She said in a dark voice that worst then Steeles "I said leave us"
"Yes Mother," Steele said uncharacteristically meek.
Crimson said to Athena "Young Lady, I am sure you know I am Admiral Crimson" Athena nodded "However, I am here to inform you that I want you to join The Crimson Lance, my new group I am setting up" She asked with a warning "So do you want to join me?"
Athena with only one option said "Yes"
"Excellent" Crimson said as she left.
Everything was normal for the next week apart from Knoxx seemed to look at Athena with worry when she wasn't looking. The next time she saw Steele was exactly one week after Crimson's visit. This Time, Steele dragged her into a training room. She said "I missed you" and kissed Athena on the lips. Stealing her first kiss. Athena pushed her away.
"What are you doing?" Athena demanded.
"We both want this" Steele said confidently as she kissed Athena again. This time Athena let her much to Athena's confusion. "I stop if you want me too," Steele said sincerely.
Athena said voice shaking "No, No kissing is fine"
"You are so beautiful," Steele said affectionately as she plagued Athena's neck with kisses. After a make-out session, Steele said "I almost forgot. I brought you here as I have a present for you" Steele unveiled a custom-made Shield. "It is yours" Athena nearly teared up at the gift.
"Thank you," Athena said. Steele just smiled and Athena was glad she met Steele.
