Crossroads
"Choose wisely Miss Phryne. You are about to reach a crossroads. One path will lead you to a deep and abiding love, wrapped in happiness" Mrs B hesitated and looked at Phryne to ensure her message was getting through.
Phryne held her gaze from under her fringe. That sounded interesting she thought, but she'd always loved adventure and excitement. Surely the other path would bring that instead.
"And the other?", she asked hopefully.
"The other.." repeated Mrs B, holding Phryne's gaze "will bring initial pleasure but eventually great emptiness".
Phryne looked down at her hand still held in a vice-like grip by the medium.
"Oh well," she laughed flippantly, "better keep an eye out for road signs".
