Home sweet home.

Well, sort of.

Two eyed the cabin with a dubious expression. Snow fell around the crew of the Raza as they fanned out around the cabin.

"Well, looks like we're here." Six shifted his bag from one shoulder to the next, glancing from Two to the cabin and back. His smile was somewhat hesitant as he tried to gauge the leader's reaction. At least she wasn't cursing him out, so far so good.

Three was not as easily impressed. "I've worn a sock that looked more reliable than this… this shack. I'm not buying it. Where's the real place? Where's the ski resort you told us about on the ship?"

"This is it," Six opened his map— a physical one— and pointed to an orange square surrounded by dense woodland.

"How do I know you're not making it up?"

"Ask the Android. Am I making this up?"

The crew of the Raza regarded the Android with varying levels of enthusiasm: Two, Four, and Nyx looked like they'd rather be at the crummy space station they'd left behind; Five wore the same grin from the first time Six announced they would be going on a 'team outing'; and Three… well, he was in one of his moods.

The Android closed her eyes momentarily as she checked their global position against that of the map's destination. Her eyes snapped open and she said: "No, Six. I do believe we have found your cabin."

"Well, it's not exactly mine, but the point is that I was right." The map disappeared back into the pocket of Six's heavy overcoat. They had trekked two miserable hours in knee-deep snow to find a shoddy cabin as their consolation prize for wasting their time. Six on the other hand looked incredibly pleased with the discovery. He threw one arm around Five's shoulders and gave it a good pat. To the rest of the crew he said:

"I thought it would be nice for us to celebrate Christmas while the Raza is undergoing repairs. Five is always saying we're a family, so why not celebrate like we're one?"

Two caught Three before he jumped Six from behind. Fuming, the third member of the Raza growled, "You brought us out here to die because the kid thinks we're a family? I hope it was worth it, you idiot—"

"Hey," Nyx stepped between Six and Three. "I don't know what a 'Christmas' is, but I like the family idea. You can be the dog," she pointed to Three. To the others she said, "And we'll be the civilized bunch. Is that fair?"

Five laughed. "I'm okay with it. Two?"

"Well, it's not the way I thought I'd be spending my shore leave, but I'm curious to find out what a 'Christmas' is. I hope it involves getting out of the cold, because my ass is freezing."

a/n: I just caught up with Dark Matter and I'm so frustracted that the show was canceled. I swear, 2018 has been such a bad year for me with shows: either everything is canceled or on hiatus.
